I don't get the outrage of it all.....yes there was certainly a crime involved, mishandling of a corpse....but please, these are dead bodies, they didn't kill anyone... charge them with the appropriate MISDEMEANORS and get on with it.... Stop identifying dead bodies, bury or cremate them, and get on with the important things at hand.Fraud is punishable by law...being gross isn't. I, of course feel for my dead relatives and immediate family....but they are dead....we kill millions of babies in this country every year and think nothing of flushing them down a sink...get your priorities straight.

The coroner said authorities know of more than 30 funeral homes within a 200-mile radius that sent bodies to the crematory.

One funeral home in a SMALL town has sent 54 bodies there over the past 15 years. Look for the count to go way over 1500 to perhaps 2000 or more.

Your statement is true and TOO tragic. However, we still have to consider the fact that all known cultures have rituals for interring the dead. This is not just for religious purposes. It has to do with sanitation and protecting the environment of those who are still alive. I am sure that they will ultmately find that the ground water in that area is a serious danger to the local inhabitants.

If I had a vase of my father's ashes sitting on my mantle, I guess I would derive some comfort from that. To discover that the vase is filled with concrete dust, and my father's corpse is one of hundreds tossed into a pile and left to the elements would be greatly disturbing. Even the most barbaric societies throughout history have shown a certain degree of respect for their dead, and this is a gross violation of how we, as civilized people expect our deceased loved ones to be treated.

As for the 'gag order', this has become headline news around the globe, so maybe they hoped that less publicity would aid their client.

What I don't understand is why the smell of so many corpses (many were exposed to the open air), went unnoticed for so long.
