A Canadian Royal Navy "Dining In," a private party in the officer's mess is not to be missed!

The Canadian corvette "Oakville" once did battle with a German U boat, by throwing empty coke bottles at it. Two of Oakville's finest actually boarded the sub as the Germans were jumping over board , in an attempt to capture the sub.Unfortunately they were unable to close the valves in time and the sub sank. One received the only wounds, other than a couple of drowned Germans, when he slipped and fell on a broken bottle.(True, really did happen)

The Canandians are fine military people. Some of us seem to forget that they seized one of the five landing beaches in Normandy on D-Day. And their navy did much of the escorting of convoys to England during WWII as well.

That's a pretty lame-looking frigate.

The photo above is deceptive.
I would guess that this ship HMCS Vancouver must have been the boat I saw moored
in Vancouver harbor (next to the area constructed for their Worlds Fair/Expo some years
ago).

It may be no "Mighty Mo", but it looked at least well-tended to my inexpert eyes.
And looked to have enough armament to hold it's own with other boats in it's class
(well, maybe not with the USA or the U.K.).

I didn't make it clear. I saw the boat (presumably the Vancouver) in summer of 1997.

Pretty funny.

What I'm worried about is that there are 20+ million Canadians poised on our boarder, ready to invade.

Canadian naval ships sail in a close arrowhead formation with United States ships in the Arabian Sea January 14, 2002. The Canadian ships have been deployed to the area to assist and support the U.S. Navy in their operations. The ships are, from top to bottom, Canadian patrol frigate HMCS Charlottetown, destroyer HMCS Iroquois, U.S. amphibious assault ship USS Bataan, guided missle destroyer USS Decatur and Canadian patrol frigate HMCS Halifax. How did you get your socialist government?

Did you ever hear of a guy called Pierre Elliot Trudeau?

(Canada's dollar was worth $1.06 US when Trudeau was elected).

Compared to PET, Clinton looks like George Washington.

Yes, they did.

Please don't confuse the non or lightly defended beaches of Sword or Juno for the real fighting that went on at Omaha or Utah Beach

As long as you don't forget that the failed incursion by the Brits and the US 101st Airborne in Holland was finally won by the Canadians a few months later.

They took on and beat the worst of Hitler's worst.

As if your twisted opinion matters. These men died for you or are you too stupid to understand that?

Twenty thousand troops and 1,700 motorized vehicles had landed at Utah with surprisingly few casualties--fewer than 300 men

From Gold beach the 50th Division had landed 25,000 men.The British suffered 400 casualties while securing their beachhead

The Americans suffered 2,400 casualties at Omaha on June 6, but by the end of the day they had landed 34,000 troops.

On Sword,at the end of the day, the British had landed 29,000 men and had taken 630 casualties

.The Canadians suffered 1,200 casualties out of 21,400 troops who landed at Juno that day--a casualty ratio of 1 out of 18.

I'm tempted to reply: Who kept Clinton in power for 8 years?

But I'll try to avoid sarcasm:

The Liberals (socialists) are in power for 3 reasons:

1. Quebec is solidly Liberal because they are a guarantee
that federal money forever will be transferred into their coffers.

2. Industrial Ontario is solidly Liberal because of the flood of immigrants
who can be relied to vote themselves the gravy train.

3. Canadians basically aren't too bright.
