>In air travel, as in the media, there seems to be that leftist bias.
If your travel lecture had come from the cockpit, the bias, if any, would have been from the other direction.

Actually, all of that was implemented last year. They have had pretty tight security for a gathering of that type because Rudy et. al. expected an attack.

The minute I read about the President's off-the-cuff remark, I had a sinking feeling he was jumping the gun.
I, for one, am happy this incident hit the headlines. There is something VERY unusual about this Secret Service Agent. First, if I'm correct, he went whining about his experience to some Arab/American rights group. Now he's thinking of suing.
SS agents have always been a rather unique band. They maintain low profiles and are disciplined to remain stoic and mum in the face of unusual circumstances. They generally maintain high standards of loyalty in service to their country and are considered "elite" in the good sense of the term.
This guy is reacting in an odd way. We should all feel more secure now that he's "outed" himself, in my opinion.

If true, the pillot had good cause and the agent needs some remedial training and severe disciplining.

The questions is, did he get the job due to racial profiling? LOL isthisnickcool!!!;0)

This is kind of off-topic, but your comment about the New Year's Eve in NYC struck a chord. I really have NO interest in attending any kind of mass assembly type event ever again. Not out of concern for the likelihood of attack, but rather because of the inevitable herding and scrutiny that any such events will invariably feature.

Better to have one annoyed person than a few hundred (or possibly thousand) dead ones!!!

last time i flew from ny to fla (9/6), as we covered the dc area, we got a lecture form the male stewardess about all the good that 'democrat' presidents have done through history. I'd write a letter of complaint to the airline and to the FAA.

The President, DO and Chief Pilot of AA had better go to bat for this Captain in a very public way or there will be far worse problems down the road.

...and prohibited from drinking... All of the Times Square celebrations since Rudy became mayor have been officially alcohol-free.

Typically USSS agents are allowed to fly in the cockpit jumpseat by simply booking the seat and showing their US SS ID.
Sample airline jumpseat policy.
I chose Reliant simple because they have their policy on the web.
The priority order for seating in the cockpit jumpseat is:
Jumpseat boarding is to be assigned according to the following priority:
Secret Service Agents
FAA Inspectors
Reliant Airlines Check Airmen on official business
Authorized couriers
NTSB Investigators on official business
Reliant Airlines Crewmembers on Company business
Reliant Airlines Personnel on Company business
Reliant Airlines Crewmembers
Active Reliant Airlines Flight Followers
Crewmembers from other air carriers
Air Traffic Controllers
Reliant Airlines employees who deal responsibly with matters relating to safety
Technical Representatives of the manufacturer of aircraft or its components
Identification Requirements
Proper identification must be presented to the Captain.
FAA Inspectors must present an FAA Form 110A (Aviation Safety Inspector's Credential). NTSB
Investigators must present NTSB Form 7000-5. Secret Service Agents need only present an agency photo
ID. Others must present Employer ID and appropriate certificates.

Does any one remember the Black S.S. agents who were refused service at a Dennys in I belive Anapolis some time ago? That was wrong!
This is very different!
I would have had the Real cops disarm and hold this dude on the ground after he dparted the plane without his carry on bags, evacuated the A/C , terminal, and perhaps the entire airport. I also would have my lawyers ream the S.S. for sending such a 'Dumb ASS' out into public with a badge and a gun. Who the Heck does this guy think he is? Kinda reminds me of somthing only seen in the movies.
Does not the Aircraft Captain have full legal athority

Thanks for posting the information. Most interesting. I suspect this specific SS Agent is simply arrogant.

And when it's over, the Captain deserves a new Mercedes for his trouble.

I read the situation the same way. I guess if you work as a King's Guard for long enough, you might eventually start to think that you are royalty yourself.
The following is from the linked doc above. Granted, it doesn't sound like this agent was trying to fly in the jump-seat, but the wording is important to keep in mind.
Deviations from policy may be made under the Captain's emergency authority, but only if safety of flight demands such deviation. The Captain's decision is final on all jumpseat questions.
