Thanks for being Richards "Guardian Angels."

Thanks for the update, Colleen.
I'm glad to hear that you are saving up most of the cards and presents for the big day - Christmas! We're all looking forward to pictures.
Trying to respond to everyone might be a pretty big task for Richard, unless, of course, he really wants to. Maybe he could write a letter of thanks and Christmas greetings to all and we could post it right here on FR along with pictures. Heck, we could dedicate an article to this.
Wrapping each package that arrives is a very nice thing that you are doing.
And you're right...a few letters to Richard throughout the year would be nice.
There's a special place in Heaven for you and the C-man (your husband)! God bless you, Colleen!

I don't know how I missed this thread until today, but I will be sending a card and small gift. I just love all the people at Free Republic. I also hope Richard is not forgotten as time goes by.

Colleen,
My mom sent her card along to Richard when the call first went out. She received a very nice card back from Richard. As we try to send a little joy to Richard he is in return sending out blessings. Mom truly appreciated hearing from Richard.
Thanks for inviting us to participate in your Christmas Mission.

Just wanted to let people know that my family just received a Christmas card from Mr. Workman thanking us for sending him a card Here we thought how great it felt to be able to do a little something for Mr. Workman and little did we know, we provided an opportunity for Mr. Workman to give to us. The Lord surely works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?

HELLO EVERYONE, I HAVE A LETTER FOR YOU FROM RICHARD, AND I HAVE BEEN SWORN TO WRITE IT WORD FOR WORD, MY DEAR FRIENDS, I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW GRATEFUL I AM TO BE RECIEVING YOUR CARDS AND LETTERS, YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO ME. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY HOLIDAYS VERY SPECIAL. NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW HOW MUCH COLLEEN AND CISCO MEAN TO ME, THEY ARE NOT ONLY MY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, BUT THEY ARE MY ADOPTED FAMILY. BEING ON A LIMITED INCOME, THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME, TO BRING FOOD OR MORAL SUPPORT IN MY TIME OF NEED. I CAN NEVER REPAY THEM FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR ME. I WISH YOU ALL HAPPY HOLIDAYS, AND THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. RICHARD WORKMAN. NOW FOR MY 2 CENTS WORTH, RICHARD HAD A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL, HAD A LOT OF FLUID ON HIS LUNGS AND HAD TO HAVE THAT TAKEN CARE OF, BUT IS HOME NOW, WE WANTS TO RESPOND TO ALL OF YOU, BUT I DON'T GUESS HE REALIZED HOW MUCH THIS WOULD TAKE SO I TOLD HIM ANYTHING HE WANTED TO SAY TO WRITE AND I WOULD POST IT, I ALSO TOOK HIM A BOOK OF STAMPS AND SOME CARDS SO HE CAN STILL WRITE TO PEOPLE, HE ENJOYS IT SO MUCH. HE TOLD ME HE HAS HEARD FROM PEOPLE HE KNEW AND SOME WHO WERE IN SAME AREA AT SAME TIME, AND DIDN'T KNOW BY NAME BUT KNEW ANYWAY. HE IS STILL OVERWHELMED WITH RESPONSE, AND STILL DOESN'T KNOW THE HALF OF IT. ONE THING THAT WILL TELL YOU WHAT KIND OF PERSON RICHARD IS, A WOMAN SENT HIM A 10.00 CHECK, AND HE SENT IT BACK TO HER, TELLING HER SURELY NEEDY KIDS COULD USE IT MORE. I AM STILL RECIEVING AT LEAST 6 CARDS A DAY, AND OFTEN MORE THAN THAT, AND HAVE SEVERAL PACKAGES, READY FOR CHRISTMAS EVE, THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THERE CONTINUED SUPPPORT. COLLLEEN P.S. ONE THING HE MENTIONED WAS HOW WIDE THE RESPONSE IS, I DON'T BELIEVE THERE IS ONE STATE THATS BEEN LEFT OUT, EVEN CARDS FROM CANADA, IT IS FANTASTIC!! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!

Teary-eyed bump. What a lovely man. I hope he's feeling better soon. He doesn't have to write everyone. And if he insists, tell him he can space it out over the next year or so. : - )

See #215 for some great news!

Thank you Colleen for the update.
How about getting Mr. Workman a current U.S. map, mount it on foam board, get some pins and let him pin-point all of the locations he has received greetings from. It will be a wonderful visual demonstration for him to see how far and wide the service he rendered to his country means to so many people.
Always .... THANK YOU MR. WORKMAN!
