"It was during one such drive that the beautiful screwball comedian Carole Lombard, wife of Clark Gable, died in a plane crash. Lombard, who had just raised $2.5 million for the cause, had also starred in an anti-Nazi film, the hilarious To Be or Not to Be, with Jack Benny. When she died, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt eulogized her, saying, "She gave unselfishly of time and talent to serve her government in peace and war."

I didn't know John Wayne tried to enlist THREE times!!

There were a lot of things I didn't know until I read this post. It was extremely interesting and informative.

Yeah.. hard to figure out what happened, other than the men AND WOMEN in "present day" Hollywood became more cowardly and less principled.

I miss Jimmy Stewart, and John Wayne, and seeing Bob Hope out there with the troops. Gosh so many patriots from Hollywood are gone now. Men and women who did everything in their power to support our country.

Sad really. Got to have hope that we will again have a Hollywood that represents the BEST of America!!

Strangely enough, she had no such concerns in 1996, when she was entertaining U.S. troops sent to war in Bosnia by former President Bill Clinton. Back then, she “felt extremely patriotic.” Today, her website is selling a $12 tee-shirt that reads: “I don’t believe in your war, Mr. Bush!”

That's the root of it all, imho. They mindlessly hate Bush and Republicans in general.

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.
32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.
34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
