CLEVER, MO—July 6, 2012—The Silver Star Families of America (SSFOA) proudly announces the 2012 recipient of the prestigious SSFOA Commendation Award—actor and musician Gary Sinise.

CLEVER, MO—July 6, 2012—The Silver Star Families of America (SSFOA) proudly announces the 2012 recipient of the prestigious SSFOA Commendation Award—actor and musician Gary Sinise. A non-profit based out of Clever, Mo., the SSFOA’s primary mission is to support and recognize veterans who are wounded, injured, or have acquired an illness related to their service in a combat zone—regardless of service branch or military conflict. In keeping with this mission, the founders, president and board of the SSFOA conducted an election process to select the winner for the organization’s premier honor. The annual commendation may be awarded to military or civilian personnel, and departments or organizations that have positively affected the lives of wounded and ill veterans. Nominees must demonstrate one or more of the following:

• Taken action(s) which directly influence the care and well-being of the wounded/ill veterans;

• Influenced policy that has improved or provided services to our nation’s wounded and ill;

• Strived to increase the benefits provided our wounded and ill;

• Engaged in activities of such a profound nature, they have actually prevented casualties and injuries.

Previous commendation recipients include President George W. Bush, Gen. David Petraeus and Ann-Margret.

Following the most recent selection process, the SSFOA board unanimously selected Gary Sinise to receive this year’s honor for his unwavering support of the military community and persistent efforts to raise money for the country’s wounded warriors through the “Lt. Dan Band.”

“Our military is full of individuals willing to sacrifice themselves on behalf of our great nation,” stated Steve Newton, national president for the SSFOA. “And it is nice to pause and recognize those civilains—such as Mr. Sinise—who selflessly donate their own time and efforts in support of these brave servicemembers.”

“That is why I am pleased to announce Mr. Gary Sinise as the 2012 recipient of the SSFOA Commendation Award,” Newton added.

Plans are being made to present the commendation during the Lt. Dan Band concert to be held in Centertown, Mo., on July 27, 2012.

This warmed my heart and thought it would warm yours too! Gary Sinise is a great American Patriot and history will recognize him as one of the greatest, I have no doubt. His genuine love and respect for our Troops means the world to them and to all Americans. Gary Sinise is the Bob Hope of this generation and I am so very thankful for all he has done to lighten the hearts of our brave men and women as they serve in a war zone so far away from home. Gary reminds our Heroes they are loved and revered and that Americans are so very grateful for their service and sacrifice!

I've had the distinct pleasure to meet Gary several times and with each meeting, I have no doubt I am in the company of one of the greatest American Patriots of our time. He is one of the most down to earth gentlemen I have ever met and he never ceases to amaze me how dedicated he is to our Troops. Once, in the courtyard of the Pentagon where he performed for wounded Soldiers from Walter Reed, I watched as he sat in the hot sun to autograph whatever the Soldiers brought to him for signature. He did not budge until 3 hours later when all the Soldiers there had met with him and he had shaken every one of their hands. I will never forget that day and what that meant to those Wounded Warriors.

So now, it is Honorary Chief Gary Sinise, but to this mom whose Son served in this war, he will always be one of the Greatest Patriots of my lifetime!

Congratulations Chief Sinise!

I've received several emails of outrage over this latest abuse of our military by this administration. You know, I've been fighting for our Troops for a long time and I've been warning people for a long time that the very enemy our Troops are fighting has found his place within this country.
My blood boils daily over the abuse our Troops are subjected to and while folks have been distracted by the trashed economy that this administration and the Democrats have so deliberately created, the enemy within advances. I must say I am encouraged though. I am suddenly getting emails from folks outraged over the advancement of radical Islam!
