An angry Steve Newton, Founder of the Silver Star Families of America, called on Chris Hayes to resign or be terminated for his recent comments on MSNBC on the fallen of the United States Military. “Mr. Hayes comments that he is somehow “uncomfortable” with the word “hero” to describe our fallen Soldiers are reprehensible. As with a lot of the pundits in Washington he seems unable to separate politics from the sacrifices of our military.” He continued, “He seems to have no sense of the hurt his words will bring to the families and friends of those who have paid the ultimate price for his freedom. I would strongly suggest another line of work for Mr. Hayes that might increase his empathy and his love of country---say in the military.” The Silver Star Families of America is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to remember, honor and assist the wounded, ill, injured and dying of our Armed Forces.

Terminated with extreme prejudice! Oh, we don’t do that, do we? Then just fire his dumb ass and give him two kicks in the ass on his way out the door (don’t open it). That’s my kind of polite “double tap”.

these people respect nothing but their money and power. I’d like to know what companies sponsor his show.

Unfortunately, I got cross-ways with my fiancee this afternoon. We have a WWII vet that comes down to the camp every single day for two beers. She bought him a beer in honor of Memorial Day. I called her to the back and asked if she knew the meaning of the day.

To her credit, she realized what she had done. It won't happen again. Over and over I keep seeing pols and newsmedia trying to honor vets on this day trying to score 'brownie points'.

Come on people, this is "Memorial Day"!

Chris Hayes is the feminine version of Rachel Maddow.

I thought about Hayes' comments while at my city's Memorial Day Parade. As the band played 'The Star Spangled Banner', while facing the flag at half mast, with our hands over our hearts, I noticed folks in wheel chairs and those who used walkers stand. Then, as the VFW, American Legion, and other patriotic marchers trudged the long walk, many people had tears in their eyes, some actually crying. And, I said to myself, if our veterans, dead or alive, are not heroes, then why are so many people saluting them? Most don't know the men and women they are crying for, but they do know they are American heroes.

Younger folks might scream and faux faint at seeing Justin Beiber or Beyonce, but there is no love like the solemn respect for those who made Beiber possible.
