He's been dead over 5 years now.

My thanks to your dad for his service.
How long was he in the Air Corps?
I am impressed and thank you!
My sister just resurrected some old photos of my Dad in his uniform with my Mom. I’ll try to scan them in tomorrow and post them here. Just wonderful.....
1943-46
Don’t thank me, thank him. Although I did do my time in USN.
728th squadron, 452nd heavy bombardment group

These old picture speak volumes. Thanks for sharing.
My Dad was also Army Air Corps. Flew in B-17s out of North Africa.
I miss him.
What squadrons and groups?
Please forgive the questions. Many of my relatives served in the USAAC/USAAF and I sometimes think that I may find others who served in the same sqdn, grp, or wing.
It was either 42nd or 43rd Bomber Group. Sorry that I can’t remember which. He served in New Guinea, Philippines, Ie Shima, and Japan after the war was over.
I have done extensive research on the USAAF and have old rare books and records.
What group and squadron was your father in?
Good job. I never heard him cuss, and I never saw him take a drink. Evidently, this apple fell a long way from the tree.
It would be my father’s uncles and some of my mother’s uncles. Two of my USAAC vet uncles have “gone west” in the last few years.
Thanks for the nice pic, and to father and son for your service.
My Mom, as well...
As I like to say,
"May we all meet again, in a better place, and time..."
Wonderful pictures.
Here is a beautiful song from WWII by Vera Lynn.

my dad-— your dad-—the greatest of generations of the 20th century.
A wonderful tribute.
I haven’t visited the Vets Corner section of the forum in a long time and your thread just made me realize I should take a look in here more often.
My Dad served in the Army Air Corps in the CBI theatre. The 396th Air Service Squadron with the 12th Air Service Group attached to Gen. Chennault’s 14th Air Force In China, 1944 and 1945.
What an incredible generation they were.
My dad served in WW II aslo. I fail to understand how the greatest generation (some of it anyway) of the 20th century managed to spawn some of the biggest whiners and wussies of the 20th and 21st centuries?
Whiner? I’ve been there...but fortunately was enlightened when I lived/worked abroad for a number of years.
I think our parents wanted the best for us...everything they did not have—and that meant - for many - material things to the exclusion - at times - of values. They worked hard and they trusted the institutions of society to maintain those values and that did not happen. In many cases they have failed miserably.
Those of us who are conservatives are the new radicals really...trying to change society for the better.
Thanks to your dad for his service.
You are correct. The counter-culture passed me completely by. I was a pro-American, patriotic kid when some of my classmates were protesting the Viet Nam war. They grew up to be the whiners.
My Dad was also in CBI. Maybe your Dad flew my Dad over “The Hump”. Dad was among the first Americans into Burma and southern China. They took in communication equipment and the Japs chased them out for a while. God bless all of them.
I had no idea! The only Vera Lynn I knew about was from the Pink Floyd song, which is about her of course. I always thought he was singing about a lost girlfriend or something.
