Johnny: [after hearing the sirens] It's the phone cops. They know what I did here today.
Venus: What are you talking about?
Johnny: They're coming to get me, man!
Venus: That's paranoia, man!
Johnny: Wake up, sucker, this is the phone company we're talking about! They see everything, they know everything, they got their own covert police force! I'm probably wired for sound right now! I gotta get out of here!
Venus: Johnny!
Johnny: Don't use my name!!

(ever notice how you are now occasionally seeing mail trucks cruising residential streets even on Sundays?)

That's because the Postal Service started delivering small parcels in about February 2015, just after they eliminated overnight service for 1st class letters. That was a response to the concerns that people would have to wait longer to get their meds by mail. Many pharmacies were refilling by mail and mailing locally, so it would be delivered next day, and customer surveys had shown strong support for that, so now there are carriers out delivering those on Sunday. It was cheaper than maintaining the equipment and staffing to continue overnight local mail overall.

Yes, trust the government. They’d never lie to you.

LOL! I DON'T trust the government in general. I worked for USPS and was involved in local level planning for this project. If they AREN'T delivering small parcels, I did a whole lot of work, spent unnecessary transportation money, and upended people's lives for nothing!

Actually, it does happen that official surveillance vehicles have Wi-Fi which broadcast their actual official unit designations. The specialized vehicles are often set up by contractors for the agencies that purchase them, and, apparently, changing the WiFi title is overlooked.

I know this because I picked up the Wi-Fi from own department’s super secret mobile spy truck ......my cellphone posts available networks on the screen. There it was: ‘**** ***** ****** department surveillance unit’ I looked around the parking lot...and there IT was!!!!

Which reminds me...I maybe ought tell the commander??

Upshot: possible.

What makes you think it’s a teenager?

Because it’s the type of idiotic juvenile humor a teenager would likely use to name for his router. It’s certainly not the name the NSA would be using on a roving van seeking data.

True, but there are those of us beyond our teenage years who still have a sense of whimsy.

And I pray it will never end.

981 is a category code used by the agency.

9 = FISA warrant pending
8 = Known to lolly-gag
1 = Shoot on sight

Mine is called ‘Homeland Security”. “FBI Surveillance Van” is used quite a bit.

A local gym was evacuated when my daughter showed up to work out. The cops bomb squad unit was there because the manager phoned in a panic call. Later on we heard someone’s network device had been named “wireless detenator” I guess someone took it serious.
