Paul doesn't have many fans in Congress

Washington (CNN) -- Briefly back in Congress doing his day job, Ron Paul met with high school students outside his office.

True to form, he signed copies of the Constitution and wryly told them with a chuckle, "No one around here reads it very much. I'd like to get everybody to read it."

[...]

What Paul did not do was attend a closed-door gathering of House Republicans. In fact, the GOP presidential contender is known to never attend these meetings.

But Paul's Republican colleagues who did go had no shortage of opinions about his strong showing in the presidential race so far.

Many were good.

[...]

"Many times, the vote would be 434-1 -- he'd be the one, but he was the one who kind of put up the ideological goal posts -- this is where you should be if you're pure, and what we found is no one is really pure except Ron Paul," he said.

Several House Republicans told CNN they admire his purism.

"No one is really pure except Ron Paul."

Says it all, really. The only ideologically pure conservative in Congress - with the possible exception of Rand Paul. The rest of those bums are good for nothing.

Bullshit.

Ron Paul hides behind the Constitution in order to promote his insane views, which include praising the traitor Bradley Manning as a 'patriot' and a 'hero', encouraging his supporters in 2008 to support the likes of Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader, and of course Ron Paul thinks it is quite ok for Iran to have nuclear weapons.

Need more? Our esteemed Founder Jim Robinson said it all recently when he said in four distinct letters:

FURP!!!

Take that 'Ron Paul = Purism' crap over to Storm Front where they'll appreciate it.

Pure WHAT? I can't follow his many trains of thought, they are like tracks that never intersect. Reality is what it is and Paul is good at leaving vapor trails to nowhere.

Why would he want to?

PaulBot? What does that even mean, really? Sarah Palin remains my first choice for President, even in the face of ever increasing futility. Wouldn’t that make me a “PalinBot” with your line of thinking? The truth is I’m not a “Bot” for anyone; I’ve never found a person with whom I’m in 100% agreement. Paul is better than most, though - as he should be for most Conservative Constitutionalists.

The article states that many congressional Republicans admire his purism, too.

The article quotes a grand total of FIVE Republican Congressmen, not all of them singing Paul's praises, which hardly constitutes what any reasonable person would consider "many". Especially since we're talking 5 out of 242. So let's look at the money quote, ok?

Trent Franks, R-Arizona- "I don't have any personal dislike for the man, but I will say to you that he has really been essentially totally ineffective in Congress."

Storm Front, you say...?

Yeah, Storm Front. The founder of that white supremacist group (Don Black), endorsed Ron Paul last December 28th, saying "we agree with his [Ron Paul's] stand on the issues, which we believe are heartfelt, coincide with ours."

As the field of candidates is whittled down, it ought to be clear to any REAL conservative that a vote for that nutcase Ron Paul is actually a vote for Mitt Romney, as it results in one vote less for Newt Gingrich. Ron Paul is not going to be the GOP nominee.

PaulBot? What does that even mean, really?

Well, you're posting favorable articles about Ron Paul, do the math.

Sarah Palin remains my first choice for President

Sorry to tell you this, but that train has left the station and Sarah is not a candidate, nor will she be the GOP nominee.

And neither will Ron Paul.

It says something, but definitely not The only ideologically pure conservative in Congress. Just because Ru Paul is the most ideologically pure & he waves the Constitution around doesn't automatically make him conservative.

I would agree with you if you had said The only ideologically pure member in Congress who is a libertarian then I would have 100% agreed with you.

However, he waves around the Constitution and claims to be the ultimate conservative.....I take personal offense to that charade. He's no different than a RINO, in fact he is a RINO at this point, he's a hardcore left-leaning libertarian that's running in the republican race for the presidential nomination.....

If he waved the Constitution around while spouting off his indecipherable viewpoints but was running as the libertarian he is, I would have much more respect for him. As it is, his only purpose at this point must be to sabotage the real conservative votes during the election.

How is he "left leaning" exactly. I don't get that part at all.

Ron Paul encouraged his supporters to support the likes of Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader in 2008, you don't get much more 'left' than that.

You should have read my first post (post #2) more carefully where I addressed that issue.

His praise for traitors and his appeasement policies with our enemies & potential enemies.
Small government and states' rights won't do an iota of good if we don't properly defend ourselves within and without.
There's different types of isolationism, as far as I can tell he prefers the appeasement type of isolationism.
Saying Ru Paul is "rightwing" is like saying the Nazis were "rightwing". They're both about as rightwing as my left pinkie-toe.

The US constitution doesn’t have many fans in Congress either, not that there is necessarily any connection.

Well, if Paul keeps siphoning delegates from Romney to an extent that come convention time, there’s no majority winner, delegates might see fit to coalesce around a compromise... And Sarah might ride in on her white horse to save the day. I know that’s just a dream at this point, but I’m bitterly clinging to it!

In any case, Paul is the next best thing; and according to the polls the only one except Romney who can win against Obama. I won’t be caucusing for any of the others. Not Big Government-Santorum, and not Angry Attack Muffin-Newt.

That right there has to be the stupidest and most slanderous bit of tripe I have seen on FR in a long time.

You were wondering what a Paulbot is, you just qualified. More like a Paulitard.

Gosh darn it, I’m literally quaking in my Justin boots. Maybe you need to come out west and learn what independent, hard-line Goldwater-brand conservatism is all about. It’s about time you big-government, pseudo-conservative statists were slapped six ways from Sunday. I don’t hold with your kind anymore; and the era of uniting under the same banner just to get along is now truly over. Santorum and Gingrich just ain’t cutting it, so in the absence of Palin there’s only one candidate left worth considering. If you want to shun him and his supporters, get ready for 4 more years of Obama.

You are kidding right?

Paul is no replacement for Reagan, Palin or anyone else. He is more beloved by the left than the right and is ready to bow down to anyone.

Voting crazy IS NOT the solution to the situation.

I wont even address comparing Paul to the Great Ronald Reagan.
