Ron Paul plays to packed house as supporters await victory
Los Angeles Times ^ | 1/2/12 | James Oliphant

While other candidates were speaking at coffeehouses and diners on the day before the Iowa caucuses, Ron Paul was greeted by a crowd of 500 and scores of national media who packed a downtown hotel ballroom for a morning event.

“This is almost like a real rally,” the Republican presidential hopeful exclaimed. “This is great!”

Polls show Paul in a position to pull off an upset victory in the caucuses Tuesday night, an accomplishment that, if it happens, would amount to one extremely sharp stick in the eye of the GOP establishment.

The turnout had Paul’s supporters crowing.

“For somebody that doesn’t have a chance, this is some crowd,” said Monte Goodyk of Sully, Iowa. “This is the beginning of the second revolution.”

Paul was introduced by his son, Rand Paul, the U.S. senator from Kentucky.

“There’s energy. It’s overflowing. And it’s coming tomorrow,” Rand Paul told the crowd. “We’re going to win in Iowa tomorrow.”

Did Chuck Norris endorse Ron Paul? Thought he would go for Perry or Newt.

What? Yo' bama is running as a "Republican?"

The only difference between RP and BHO is the letter behind their names/so-called party affiliations.

That pic is worth many words.

I had the choice of a boring Sugar Bowl or Photoshop. I chose Photoshop.

If Ron Paul were the nominee, I’d do the same thing I did last time: Vote for every race except President.

Two answers: (a) "So many" isn't frequently used as a synonym for "a paltry few'' and (b) Veterans and Military Families for Obama has been losing members, as I understand it. I wonder where they've been going?

Among other things, in July 2011 Paul hadn't made all of his idiotic statements about giving Iraq the bomb, and we didn't know that he thought we should never have gotten involved in WWII, and he hadn't admitted yet that he HAD written those newsletters (except that there are "8 or 10 sentences" that somebody else wrote that are a problem).

There were some informed nuts in the military, apparently. But I have more respect for our military than to think they would support Paul. Don't you?

I’m just looking at the facts. What facts are you looking at that the military does not support Ron Paul?

LOL, I don’t doubt it.

If he is a Libertarian then let him run as one. Why does he pretend to be something that he’s not. I know why - Because if he did run as a Libertarian then he would be just another retired doctor living in Texas.

No, someone added a graphic to it. This guy is the nude Occupy San Fran protester who made the news lately. The association to him and Ron Paul supporters is real and not photoshopped.
