Ron Paul: Our Liberties Come From Our Creator
Christian Post ^ | 2011-06-04 | Stephanie Samuel

Posted on 06/05/2011 6:54:55 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

At the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference, presidential candidate Ron Paul used the Bible to show evangelicals why big government is bad and how their fight to protect faith and family are all rooted in liberty.

Paul roused the conservative Christian crowd on Friday as he recounted the story of the Israelites and their pleas for an earthly king. He used that story, found in 1 Samuel chapter eight, to explain to the faith conference why big government is morally wrong for America.

He told the crowd that the Israelites had a perfectly good family system prior to their first king and did not need a governing authority to care for them.

(snip)

In the Bible, the prophet Samuel advised against a king, enumerating the problems that arise if the Israelites did so. Paul loosely paraphrased those problems to illustrate the dilemmas that exist when you have a government that is taking power from the people.

"He says the king will take your young men and the young women to be used in the government. They're going to tax you. They're going to over burden you and you're going to have to work so much time, like 25, 35 45 percent of the time, for the king."

Samuel's thinking, he noted, was astute advice for then and now. Paul maintained that by demanding the American government to provide assistance for broken families, job creation and more, its citizens have essentially appointed a king over themselves.

(snip)

"We have, as a people, lost our confidence and our understanding of what true liberty is all about and where it comes from," he summed. "It doesn't come from the government. Our liberties come from our Creator."

Making a few good points on a single issue does not detract from the fact that Paul is a kook.

He makes a few good points, but has NEVER done a thing the entire time he has been in Washington, except make points, (some good, most kooky) and get earmarks.

By that measure alone Dr. Paul is a far superior candidate for president than 0bama ever will be.

The only person worse than cut and run is obama.

No one else running understands the limits placed on the federal government by the constitution like Dr. Paul.

He may understand, but the question is, "Has he EVER done anything about it?

Can you name someone that would be better on the budget?

Anybody, because everybody knows cut and run will never do anything. He has been in Washington for who knows how many years and accomplished absolutely NOTHING except acquire as many earmarks as possible.

Oh, good....it had been a few days since we had a thread where the Paulbots could come slobbering about how great their little demigod is because he uttered some phrases again.

What has this guy ever actually done besides having endorsed people like Cynthia McKinney, Bob Barr, Adam Kokesh and other horrors, made wierd statements on the Alex Jones Show, and voted with the Democrats half the time? And that's when he bothers to vote. He abstains more often than not.

What has he ever really accomplished?

Nuttin'.

After 35 years of listening to all the libertarian rants of Ron Paul, one thing is certain.

Ron Paul needs to be in a straight jacket and heavily sedated, 24-7!

That goes for his pinhead son too!

The first question I had when reading this is; By saying that Israel doesn’t need an earthly government is Ron Paul here alluding to his own desire to see the end of Israel? He makes statements about them not needing an earthly government? With his anti-semitic background of supporting and appeasing terrorist nations and terrorist’s rights it makes me wonder.

You're a little delusional, dude.

We could use another hundred or so kooks just like him in Congress right about now. I’ll tke his brand of kooky over Romney, Gingrich, or Bohner.

A hundred more kooks who want to blame America for every problem in the world? No thanks. The Republicans just gained control of the house. Why would you want the dems who are just like cut and run to take control again?

Considering the typical crap politicians accomplish, I'd say we could use a whole lot more that do nothing.

BTW, hope all's good. Haven't seen you on the forum in a while.

If cut and run would ever win our government would be limited alright. There would no longer be an America. Cut and run would assure a terrorist victory over America.

OK, if you’re going to call him “Cut and Run”, please at least be consistent with your capitalization. It’s really grating on my nerves.

He does not deserve to have his name capitalized. I also do not capitalize the king’s name either.

Funny. All the people in that picture actually can make money and create jobs... something that 0bama has never done.

He does not deserve to have his name capitalized.

Then be consistent and never capitalize it. You're pissing me off.

I notice I do sometimes capitalize the c in cut, but only when cut is the first word in the sentence.
