COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's supporters raised over $6 million Sunday to boost the 10-term Texas congressman's campaign for the White House.
Called a "Money Bomb," the goal was to raise as much money as possible on the Internet in one day. The campaign's previous fundraiser brought in $4.2 million.
At midnight EST, donations were over $6 million, according to the campaign Web site. Those donations are processed credit card receipts, said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. Benton said the median donation is about $50 in the fundraiser, which was the idea of Paul supporters who are not officially connected to the campaign.
Trevor Lyman, a Paul supporter who is traveling the country following the Ron Paul blimp, said the date of the fundraiser coincides with the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
The Ron Paul blimp is an aerial billboard emblazoned on one side with "Who is Ron Paul? Google Ron Paul." The other side reads "Ron Paul Revolution." The blimp, another grass-roots effort, was in Chester, S.C., on Sunday, and organizers hope to get it to New Hampshire before the Jan. 8 primary there.
weird.
Pauls support is minimal in every poll ever published, and the high results in web polls are due to PRs poll-bots. Really makes me wonder where all the money coming in through the “web donations” is coming from. Might be interesting if the originating source for the funding was made public.
I remember when Howard Dean did this. And when John McCain did it in 2000.
Boy, I wonder what happened to those guys????
Of the 3 Congressmen who I like (Tancredo, Hunter, and Paul) it seems Paul has the best chance to win. He has also shown he can draw support from independents, new voters, and dems so he would stomp all over Hillary
“Might be interesting if the originating source for the funding was made public.”
It is.
Gee, and I just got an email from Duncan Hunter hoping to raise $25,000 in 24 hours.
Guess Duncan is setting his sights a little low..... Or is it that he is not planning on retiring on his campaign donations, and Paul is hoping for a big score before he has to retire and/or be locked in a padded cell.
is this the part where we mock and deride him and his following while championing Thompson or Huckabee ?
That’s the power of the internet and offshore PayPal accounts etc.
“Of the 3 Congressmen who I like (Tancredo, Hunter, and Paul) it seems Paul has the best chance to win. He has also shown he can draw support from independents, new voters, and dems so he would stomp all over Hillary”
Nah...
Paul’s good for 1908, not 2008.
He also does well in straw polls. If it was just the online polls vs the telephone polls I would say the telephone polls are the way to go hands down, but when it’s straw polls and fundraising as well I think perhaps it is the telephone polls which are wrong.
December 16, 2007
We are close to making history. In November, we mentioned that the all-time, single-day primary fundraising record is John Kerry’s $5.7 million in 2004. At this hour, Ron Paul stands at $5.4 million.
Won’t you help Ron Paul make history?
If you are considering donating, please help us by making your donation before midnight EST tonight. And if you have donated already, won’t you help us by contributing again? https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate
By the way, we are closing in on 25,000 first-time donors today. That’s unbelievable! Help us hit this mark too by telling your friends about this historic day!

Ron Paul 2008
It is. You can go on to his website and see how many individuals people have donated this quarter, how many new doners there are this week, and there is a continuing scroll of the names of various doners. Unlike the other campaigns, his is very transparent with this information. I’m sorry if his large amount of support doesn’t fit in with reality as defined by the dinosaur media’s polls (the same ones freepers generally disparage otherwise).
Wow, 6MM in one day, did you guys hear/read about this?
Crazy.
Boy, I wonder what happened to those guys????
You have a bad memory. Neither of those guys ever raised this much in a single day. Fred hasn't even come close. Huckabee? You got to be kidding. Hunter? Hunter who?
“Gee, and I just got an email from Duncan Hunter hoping to raise $25,000 in 24 hours.

haha...yeah, it’s a crazy world. Good men like Duncan are ignored, and quitters get the podium.
“Wont you help Ron Paul make history?”
No.
After he wins in New Hampshire, you will eat those words.
A little bird told me.
The little bird looked a lot like my credit card.
Paul has no chance of ever getting the republican nomination. I have a funny feeling I know where these money bombs are coming from. Hint: What segment of our population DESPERATELY wants the patriot act repealed, a withdrawal from Iraq, and all aid to Israel cut off?
Duncan Hunter should FIRE his campaign manager and his fund raising manager.
25K request is an insult to DH and his supporters. The man deserves better.
I didn't realize that the Constitution was outdated.
Perhaps if he offered some Soros money for
drugs, he could get more.
***A little bird told me.
The little bird looked a lot like my credit card.***
About lost it when I read this. LOL. Very good.
I have a funny feeling too: it’s funny how, when something doesn’t conform to their narrow worldview, bubble-dwelling folks often resort to the most outlandish theories to explain away the data that just “doesn’t compute” for them. What’s that that anti-Paulites accuse his supporters of? Oh yeah, wearing the tinfoil.
One word: Soros
“I didn’t realize that the Constitution was outdated.”
Who said that? You know it’s rude to put words in another person’s mouth...?
His foreign policy view is outdated. That view died with Pearl Harbor.
Well, I did my part (again) for Hunter.
I don’t see any blame for Hunter’s campaign management for that... I blame the people who claim to support him, but won’t send him the money to help get his message across, and mostly, I blame the media (obviously) and the RNC for keeping this good man who would be a great President in the category of “Duncan Who???”
First, you ask for money,
Then, I call in and say that I'll send in a bunch of money (pledge),
Then, no actual money comes in (oops)...
That's the Paul story...that and the totally loony thing.
"A little after midnight on December 16th, Ron Paul reached his goal of 12 million dollars in campain contributions."
Funny thing is that the email arrived at 8:40PM.
Except that these were actual donations rather than pledges, as has also been debunked 500 times.
They are not pledges. They are actual money - well FRN’s anyway.
Except that these were small individual donations, averaging around $100 dollars, as has been explained about 1000 times.
What’s weird about that? That he sent it so late?
Is that EST?
Seriously, can you folks not see the mental acrobatics you’re performing to try and explain away the obvious fact that Ron Paul actually has a lot of support from actual people?
If you would all just let some fresh air into your minds and admit to it, I think you’d feel a lot better...
Take the MSM polls with a grain of salt. If I'm not mistaken, the phone polls are calling the remaining Republican base, who support the status quo - Paul has a lot of support from disillusioned Republicans who haven't voted in the last couple elections, third party conservatives, independents, libertarians, and young people who have never voted before. They are not being reached by the phone polls.
Also, I've heard that some of these phone polls don't even mention Paul's name. Take a look at this. They mention the candidates the MSM promotes, and then the category of "other".
and the high results in web polls are due to PRs poll-bots.
LOL. Riight. Wake up, the man has support, and passionate support at that. If you still think it's a half dozen poll spammers, even after today, you're living in the past. That was said a few months ago... but it no longer flies, in fact, it is laughable to claim that now.
Forget it. Most of these people are for the war becasue they believe 19 Arabs did 9/11. Trying to rationalize with them will get you no where.
What do they do with all this money?
Yes - it has become laughable hasn’t it. Denial is a river running through Free Republic.
Sure he has support...and I’m betting you some of those people also would vote democrat.
They’ll use it to help a good man get elected :)
Some, I suppose. Paul has significant crossover appeal. Remember the Reagan Democrats?
**Funny thing is that the email arrived at 8:40PM**
I use yahoo for email. Living in the CTZ, all my emails are stamped with PTZ. Would explain what you may perceive as an error.
The 840 PTZ would mean 12:40am ETZ.
That’s the idea, to nominate a candidate like Reagan who can win votes from the Dems while maintaining a solidly conservative viewpoint. He also won’t be dragged down by the problems that made us lose the 2006 elections
6,000,000 online..and another 400,000 by phone..Sunday
one day record for a primary all coming from small donors
25,000 first time donors on Sunday
over 18.133 million dollars for the quarter...
150,000 already for monday.....
Why do I get the feeling that Rue Pauls millions are coming from sources that are going to be exposed as the worst election fraud conspiracy in the history of the US?
Because you are a conspiracy nut?
“Some, I suppose. Paul has significant crossover appeal. Remember the Reagan Democrats?”
Ehhh. Paul and Reagan aren’t on the same line of thinking. Reagan believed in a strong military, with a necessary external foreign policy....Paul is too reclusive.
We’re talking about a different era, where the Commies were coming to a close...but Reagan ensured it. The countries demographics were just changing, and Reagan was enough to fit-in. He was at era where government was it’s highest, and he was voice for that change. The dem-base was at it’s lowest.
Timing...really.
Paul’s timing is horrendous. The MSM loves it because it shows a splintered view on foreign policy on the right, and that gives Paul more attention. Frankly Michael B...of the Libertarian party was much better than Paul, but you didn’t see him get this much attention (for variable reasons).
***400,000 by phone..Sunday***
No kidding, that explains the last few big bumps.
25K new donors!? Please tell me how you are getting/viewing the information about the new donors? I do not see it on the graph page. I must be missing something.
