I am looking for a little research help. I am looking for a tally on the Democrat losses since 1994. This would also include defections. Any help would be appreciated.

Senate Defections:
Richard Shelby, Alabama, Democrat->Republican, January, 1995
Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Colorado, Democrat->Republican, March, 1995
James Jeffords, Vermont, Republican->Independent, March 2001
I'm tired now.
Since 1995, who were all of the independent U.S. Reps., besides Bernard Sanders?
Sen. Shelby became a Republican on Nov. 9, 1994.
On Apr. 7, 1995, Rep. Nathan Deal (D-GA) became a Republican, and, in Aug. '95, Rep. Mike Parker (D-MS) became a Republican.
105th Congress__ 1997-1999__435__228__206__1
109th Congress__ 2005-2007__435__231__202__1__1 (Vacancy?)
Since 1995, who were all of the independent U.S. Reps., besides Bernard Sanders?
No idea. According to Congressional History there were 2 independents in the 107th Congress, but I can only spot one in the list of members. That is Bernie Sanders, Vermont, at Large.
So what your telling me is that I need to just vote Republican and forget the rest because of large numbers..
I don't think so..
I seem to remember my mother telling me that if all the other people around me would walk over a cliff.. would I do the same.
The problem is.. I do not believe that a canidate is automitcally "good" and conservative if they are republicans or democrat.
If a Libertarian, Green, Reform, or Consitutional, Republican, or Democrat party canidate convinces me that he/she is the best choice for a position.. then thats where my vote lies..
Vote Numbers are down across the board.. and posts like this make myself want to not even vote.
wow.... with a friend like you, who needs wikipedia.
Representative Billy Tauzan, La. Dem to Republican
It took some digging, but the other independent was Virgil Goode (first elected in 1996 as a Democrat, ran and won as an Independent in 2000, then switched to Republican in 2002)....
