Why I did voted Libertarian
Al Gutierrez

Posted on 10/31/2004 1:39:18 PM PST by alfons

This election is indeed very important. However, what this election is about is whether or not we wish to have limited government once and for all not just by paying lip service to that concept but by deed which the Republicans have abandoned totally. I came from Cuba in 1961. I came to this country seeking liberty. When I became an American citizen I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution Of The United States. I took and still take that oath very seriously. I came to this contry where everyone is supposed to enjoy privacy. I came to this country where the powers of government are supposed to be limited by the Bill Of Rights. Unfortunately, our civil liberties are being eroded with certain portions of Patriot Act 1 Patriot Act 2. Admisnistrative subpoenas are being issued without any apparent judicial oversight as set forth in the Constitution of the U.S. Government spending has increased dramatically under the present adminsitration. Property rights have been eroded. Just look at some of those land grabs. The present adminsitration also has failed to veto a single bill from Congress concerning spending other than for the war effort. Sure, we got a tax cut. However, that cut has just about been eliminated with more government spending. Both Republicans & Democrats have become the parties of BIG GOVERNMENT. It seems that our representatives in Washington with the exception of Ron Paul and a few others, also indicate that they would protect the Constitution, but in reality they do not.

To me this is a time where we have to stand up for that which we believenot by mere words but by deeds. I took my oath of citizenship very seriously and will always do so. Voting for a Democrat or Republican for president is in my opinion compromising our principles. The reason why the Libertarian Party candidate for president is not so well known has to do with the Commission Of Presidential Debates which is a bipartisan dictatorship. The third parties have to have the right to participate in those debates. To me by they not being allowed to do so, goes against the First Ammendment. We cannot ask the big paternalistic government for our rights. We demand them as they were endowed by our Creator.

We need to standup and say with one clear voice, we demand our rights and we will exercise those natural rights. By voting for Michael Badnarik one will be sending out that clear and unequivocal message. I voted for Mr. badnarik and I am proud of having done so. I have absolutely no regrets. At the end of the day, I can sleep well at night, with the knowledge that I have lived up to that oath I took when I became an AMERICAN!.

what this election is about is whether or not we wish to have limited government

I think it's about whether we'll still have a country to have limited government IN.

Coming from Cuba, a fascist state, you seem to have no awareness of the war on terror. If you do, it's a minor issue to you, since you don't mention it.

Michael Bednarik would have the terrorists blowing up buses in Dallas and killing us in our beds.

You're a dummy, Al. A real dummy.

You do all that message sending in the primaries.

In the general, it is too late to affect policy, it is time to choose your future.

Fringe candidates that have no chance of winning, also have no message attached to their votes. Nader, Buchanan and all past fringe's are totally ignored.

Your vote is too, because it goes into the round file.

Coming from Cuba, a fascist state, you seem to have no awareness of the war on terror.

All states use "terrorism" as an excuse to expand government powers. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Castro -- they all use a "war on terror" as their rationale for increasing govt spending, not to mention police powers and military adventurism.

Better go back and scare the soccer moms with that b.s. sink.

Fight 'em there, or fight 'em here.

Bednarik doesn't have the stomach to fight 'em there. It's in his platform.

Fight 'em there, or fight 'em here.

One of the bigger Bushie/neocon idiot statements. Spanish troops in Iraq didn't stop Al Quaeda from bombing that train in Spain. Obviously, Al Quaeda can fight us both here and there.

Al Quaeda isn't limited by US troop location. Al Quaeda is limited by the number of its recruits. Luckily for them, Bush is doing much to aid their recruitment efforts.

If you seriously wish to protect the US from terrorism, we should stop making foreign enemies. Switzerland has no problem with terrorism despite its freedom and prosperity, because the Swiss don't mess in other nations' internal affairs, and they don't choose sides in foreign disputes.

Terrorists will fight us here even if we're there. So how about instead we simply stop creating new terrorists?
