And among the Prots there is disagreement about whether one is locked in securely (the ALWAYS saved bunch) and whether salvation has to BE ‘retained’.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
That, right there, is funny.
Second, It is a good practice to cc: anyone else you mention, so I've included two others in this reply.
Third, you never answered my questions about your "church's" (as I said "EMPTY") work rules and regulations. You skipped over that word, didn't you. Once again, demonstrating that:
Reading for comprehension is important. Words mean things. It's not going to be just whatever makes you feel comfortable in you indignation.
Finally, here is your later reply and my answers reminding me, once again you have not answered my questions about YOUR "church's" rules for YOUR "church's" empty works:
Do you consider works of the Law and “good works” to be identical? No. They’re not. We agree on somehting! :^) Do you believe once saved, always saved? Yes If so why, and where exactly is this in the Bible? Romans 8, John 3, Titus 3, John 14, Heb 6, John 10, Phi 1, 1 Peter 1, Romans 9, Eph 4, Heb 10, John 6, Heb 13 Why do you take such pleasure when you talk about people going to Hell? I don't. I explained that last night. You missed it. I didn’t even really want to get in this conversation. I made one comment, which was ignored for a day before metmom decided to answer. Then a few insults, and now I’m dragged into an argument I saw you lecture someone about being a self-important fool, I responded to that. I can never win here, because everyone is so sure of themselves I'm sure of what God says, not myself. and their interpretation of the Word Read 2 Tim 2:15. I am rightly dividing. The "holy roman catholic church" does not. No ones mind is being changed, Yet - but God might change your mind. just more acrimony and hatred.Polemics - yes. Hatred? I don't hate you, I hate what your "church" is doing. Is that Clear?
You've missed a lot of history...see the Reformation.
Anti Catholics take it for granted that Churchmen sat around and suddenly said stuff like, “haha let’s invent Purgatory today” like it wasn’t a belief held by most of the faithful and no one consciously “invented” it.
Except that is what has happened over time....the "development of doctrine". Rome tries to hide behind the notion things like purgatory and such were always believed by "everyone, everywhere", when it's been proven it hasn't.
IF purgatory is true then it nullifies the Cross and it implies the blood of Christ is somehow insufficient to cleanse a person of their sins.
In John 15:3 Jesus told the disciples they were clean. The greek behind that word indicates sin was not imputed to them.
Something to consider isn't it?
Yes. The "church" declares WHAT is read each day. Nothing is studied. It's all prescribed.
"Epistles from Paul"... not Peter?
Yes. people "pray" - memorized, incessant, repetitive, prescribed prayers.
...nothing significant is communicated there.
Just like you are.
Everything you accused others of and condemned them for on this thread, you have done yourself.
Are you really going to use the leftist tactic of attacking others and then protesting when they respond? Because that looks exactly like what you are doing.
In reality, it's typical bully tactics.
Most of what you just wrote are lies.
Thinking logically is a gift from God.
Use it.
...and Answer my questions about your club.
Ooops!
I thought I was talking to the fool.
Sorry.
Hate to break it to you, Elsie, but Jorge Bergoglio is not the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. No pope has ever been “the Church”.
I only courtesy pinged you.
But I presumed you knew that.
No problem, though. I’ve made my share of gaffes in posting.
Yeah right.
What happens in your Church? Does a preacher read five quotes from Scripture and then babble and shout his own stupid interpretation for an hour and a half before you get to your “communion” of Ritz crackers and Welch’s grape juice?
Prayers for the dead are written on graves from the Catacombs from the first century. I guess first century Martyrs aren’t early enough. As for the history of the Revolution- it was founded by booze hounds, anti Semites, adulterers and murderers.
“I can’t win here because everyone is so sure of themselves”
How ironic.
Ignorance demonstrated for all to see.
There’s a lot of that in this thread. Join in, the more ignoramus’s the better.
People have prayed for the dead a long time. However, the NT teaches once you’re dead there is no scone chance. You cannot pray someone up to Heaven.
Then why did people who lived in Apostolic times believe in it?
There's no evidence of that in the New Testament.
