I watched The Chosen once, and was negatively impressed.

Mormons teach “Adam fell in the right direction.” In other words, it was good for Adam to believe Satan’s lie that “you can be like God, knowing good and evil.” And it’s not just being like God, but actually becoming God. They add that Adam “fell toward the goal.” The goal? Godhood. They teach that “Adam is the God of the human family.”
Mormonism is summed up best by this famous quotation from one of their prophets: “As man is, God once was. As God is, man may become.”

—> Agreed. The Mormons aren’t the ones persecuting the rest of us right now. It’s the hedonist Dims.

They did a bang up job putting Romney into the Senate

As a Mormon, I chuckle at many generalizations used to characterize Mormon doctrine, which generalizations are almost universally accepted by broader Christianity.

For example: “Mormons categorically deny the idea of salvation by grace alone.” I don’t know that I have ever met a Christian who truly believes that we are saved by grace alone. All Christianity I have encountered demands some act as evidence of faith. For example, baptism or some prayer or act indicating one has accepted Christ and grace. So, it seems like Christianity and Mormons just differ as to what degree of act is required to be saved by grace.

Also, “they believe the scriptures we have are all corrupted and that’s why they have the new revelation of Joseph Smith.” Most Christians I know use multiple versions of the bible in their study. This implicitly indicates that they accept that there is imperfection in the scriptures. Again, it seems like Christians and Mormons only differ by degree.

I don’t have a problem with religious beliefs of other people as long as they don’t harm anyone, promote doing so, or try to force their beliefs on me or tell me that MINE are ‘wrong’.

I’ve known some very good Mormon people; and while I can’t believe as they do, it makes no sense to me to condemn them just for their religious beliefs. It’s not my job to tell others how to think and believe religiously.

‘Mormons teach “Adam fell in the right direction.”’

If that logic were true, then their god is a deceiver and also petty, trying to keep godhood for himself and lying and using force to stop others from “climbing up the ladder behind him”.

So why would anyone want to worship such a god?

“Most Christians I know use multiple versions of the bible in their study. This implicitly indicates that they accept that there is imperfection in the scriptures. Again, it seems like Christians and Mormons only differ by degree.”

Nonsense. We all still agree that no matter what translation you use, the Holy Scriptures are the Holy Scriptures, and not one jot or tittle should be added to them. Even Catholics and Protestants, who may quibble over the apocrypha, agree that they cannot be held up on the same level as either the Old or New Testament, since they were not included in either by the early ecumenical councils. And we certainly all agree that anyone claiming to be a “prophet” bringing another gospel is a heretic and false teacher.

That’s not “differing by degree” by any stretch of the imagination.

Looking for an easier-to-understand language of a passage you already know to be true is not seeking different versions of truth or thinking the Bible is inaccurate.

“””I remember the mormon wars we had on FR several years back.”””

What was interesting was seeing how much of Mormon interaction with the world is Mormons lying, they not only conceal and hide so much of their religion, they will lie and describe it in a totally untruthful way.

Talking to Mormons is a slow process of peeling off layers to get at their true beliefs and religion.

Mormons believe in an infinite god chain reaching into the past and future,
eternal bearing of children,
prescribed works to get to the highest heaven including temple sealings, tithing, and obedience to all the laws and ordinances of the gospel,
Jesus being the brother of Lucifer(which makes us also brothers of Lucifer),
a personal priesthood power which distinguishes Mormon men from the Gentiles,
the blood of Jesus in Gethsemane saves(He didn’t bleed in Gethsemane),
the blood of Jesus does not remove sin,
eternal life is defined as becoming a god,
hell lasts 1000 years,
black people are cursed,
all other religions are an abomination,...

I worked with a Mormon once and he used all the correct terms, but when I pressed him, he acknowledged that they don’t believe that Jesus was virgin born and that He was the half-brother of Lucifer.

Let’s be honest - Mormonism has always just been a weird sex cult.

We got and watched the first two seasons before this stuff came out about Jenkins.

The series had the potential to be far better than it is.

When he sticks to Scripture, he does a good job. It’s the side story lines that give me trouble. It’s all pure conjecture.

I also do NOT like the way he portrays men and women. The women are obnoxious, pushy, and demanding, and the men are simpering, uncertain, weaklings.

LDS preach the gospel of the scoundrel Joseph Smith, not the gospel of the Almighty God Jesus Christ.

I’m with you now that you mentioned it.
I felt Nicodemus was off like that-—
Hidden from site weeping.
.
I’m saving season #3 when I’ve taken in the first two Completely but I can’t think
of one ‘John Wayne’ type in the bunch.
.
As John MacArthur wrote in his book
‘TWELVE ORDINARY MEN’ Simon has a Foot shaped mouth...I’ve not seen that yet.
Cheers

You don’t hear the Book of Galatians being preached from many pulpits nowadays..

It needs to be. It just to warn of outright cults, it to combat the “falling away” within the church, which Jesus said would be one of the things that would happen prior to His return.

I don’t see a problem with watching it as long as a viewer looks at it as Christian drama series, not exact biblical.

Plenty of good Christian movies get things biblical skewed.

If God could use the Sunday line up of TBN preachers over a decade ago to draw me in, and to accepting Jesus, and from there learning to discern biblical from false teaching on TV and in churches, bible studies, documentaries, etc, then I can see that God can use the chosen to bring others to Him, and then when they open their bible and grow they will make their choice for Christ or some mixture God and God will sort it out with them.
