The sin of Saul was communicating with the dead
I wish I could say more, and given the scant information that I provided, perhaps I should not have posted at all.
But on fifth anniversary of my father’s passing - on that exact day - I had a very surprising and pleasant “visit” while I was standing in the aisle of a grocery store. That never happened before, and it never happened again.
Again, my apologies for being so vague.
More appropriate terms would be demons and fallen angels.
Sometimes the dead don’t ask permission—they communicate with you....
;-)
Do pets count?
Ghosts don’t scare me—the witch burning crowd is another matter...

"Demographically, women (53%) were more likely than men (35%) to report having an experience with the dead."
How does that math work?
Leviticus 19:31 - Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 20:6 - And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
1 Chronicles 10:13-14 - So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it...
Just to name a few verses in the Scriptures.
aye
The night my mother passed away, both my sister and I woke up with a horrible, sinking feeling that something was terribly wrong. We lived 1,700 miles away from each other with a 1-hour time difference. Since it was very late, we didn’t call or text each other, thinking we would wake the other party.
My father called a few hours later to share the news.
My sister was freaked out because her high-functioning autistic son, who was very close to my mother, told my sister at breakfast that Grandma was gone.
“Grandma came to my room last night. She told me she loves me but she can’t see me here anymore and that she was no longer in pain.”
If God was going to grant anyone the opportunity to say goodbye one last time, my mom would be on the list. She was a devout Christian, honorable, humble, loving, gracious, and generous to everyone she met.
I never doubted that this world is just a passing phase and we should live for the Kingdom to come. We are here to serve God’s purpose until we can go home to Him.
Mom’s visit to my nephew was simply affirmation of what I already knew.
Another instance that stays with my family is when we went house-hunting near Amarillo. As we went walking through the house, I came into the den area alone and knew I was not alone. I could sense a strong male presence in the room with me.
I went back to the kitchen and asked the realtor who died in that house. She looked surprised, then checked the paperwork and discovered the previous occupant had passed away there.
“He’s still here and wants us out of his house,” I replied. “We need to leave.”
Another odd one was the death of Evan Lacey. My son and several other boys came over, upset, because Evan had gone missing. They found his car but no Evan. Don’t ask me how, but suddenly I could see him. “He’s gone. Look for him near water. He’s in water.” Not particularly helpful, but that’s all I could see.
The boys were visibly upset. We stopped and prayed that they found Evan safe and alive.
A few days later, workers found him while fixing a water main.
My mother had conversations with my dead stepfather but she knew that it was because of her Parkinson's disease and medications.
Post Christian culture
When folks hear the voices are they to cover their ears?
When folks see the visions are they to cover their eyes?
Seriously?
People who dabble in the spirit world (seances, ouija boards, etc.) are inviting evil into their lives. They are opening a door and letting anything walk in; evil forces look for these openings.
They are foolish. Most are not prepared for what can come through.
People need to stay far away from this and stay close to God.
I agree this stuff is like playing with fire—not to be trifled with....
But many (probably the majority) of folks who experience this stuff are not asking for it—or wanting it—and should not be condemned for reporting their lived experience.
seems like about that many dont even know what sex they are anymore!
They can no longer evaluate things biblically…
