On Netflix & Amazon Prime - American Gospel: Christ Alone < A MUST SEE! >
American Gospel Motion Picture Website ^ | 2019 & 2020 | American Gospel Motion Picture

American Gospel examines how the prosperity gospel (the Word of Faith movement) has distorted the gospel message, and how this theology is being exported abroad. It also discusses how in our culture it is common for preachers to soften the message of the cross and the attributes of God that are displayed in the person of work of Jesus Christ. American Gospel explores how the paths of post-modernism and progressive Christianity lead to a different gospel, and a god created in our own image.

Netflix has the 2h 20m full documentary. It was as enlightening as it was terrifying exposing some of the world's most popular televangelists for what and who they truly are. I'll be watching it several times over.

Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, just to name a couple, are exposed as not only money hungry business men who fool millions into sending...well...million$ to their "ministries", but expose their blatant misconstruing of the gospel to suit the desires of their audience.

In some of the revealings of these crooked “men of God”, they’re shown to contradict themselves. Hinn in one video claiminig “I NEVER get sick. Not ever.” Then in another telling how he was “as sick as a dog, so so sick!”.

His nephew, who has left Hinn’s roadshow, is heavily interviewed and explains how Benny only allows folks onstage for “healing” if they don’t have anything visible to be healed. He would watch many parents with dying children, or kids crippled who were turned away from the stage and told to pray for healing on their own. Nice, huh?

Copeland on the other hand is said to be worth at least $750 million dollars and owns a fleet of his own planes. He also claimed in a video clip we are all “little gods”. Wow!

Usually the Left will hold preachers like this as examples of Christianity as a whole. It worked very well in the 80’s to use Bakker and Swaggart to diminish American Protestantism. I would be amazed if this documentary doesn’t have the same nefarious purpose.

If there is any way you can watch it please do. I was going to watch 1/2 last night and other 1/2 tonight (it’s over 2 hours) but I could NOT stop watching! Found myself yelling at the TV over some of what those “preachers” were saying that was so not the Gospel. Was crying by the end of it....

It’s relatively easy to spot a “prosperity gospel“ (fake) preacher. Sooner or later they get around to talking about “planting a seed” - as in send me a $1000 seed. Your seed will grow, and be returned to you tenfold. As if the Gospel is all about investment strategies.

One of the worst is Mike Murdock. I had this misfortune of stumbling across his infomercial while flipping channels late at night. Murdock was telling the tale of some lady who sent him a $1000 seed. And the very next week she got a letter from her hospital that - out of the blue - forgave all her medical bills.

That story is so over-the-top that it’s almost funny. But I guess quite a few desperate people fall for such things.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.”
Matthew 7:15

Copeland said God wanted him to have those planes. He won't be needing them where he's going.

Osteen looks like he could sell a used car to a used car salesman.

I know :( One thing I took away from this is truly understanding why so many fall away from the faith. They followed one or more of these shysters who teach if they are sick, poor, or whatever it’s our fault for doing something “wrong” that made God “unhappy”. So many become discouraged from that. Or, from not being able to follow all the rules these men and women claim is required, which are not true.

This documentary exalts Jesus and true Christian faith.
Nothing nefarious about it and worth the watch.

Hank Hennegraff (name misspelled, sorry) wrote a book called Christianity in Crises, exposing these people. I’m not a fan of old Hank, but with this book he did a great service.

“Copeland said God wanted him to have those planes. “

His god is probably himself....and money.

“Osteen looks like he could sell a used car to a used car salesman.”

He looks like he’s had plastic surgery, and more teeth whitening than any Hollywood actress too.

“God” is apparently a profitable busine$$. I’m guessing some of them are worth even more. Monitarily that is.

Kenneth Copeland: Net Worth $760 Million
Pat Robertson: Net Worth $100 Million
Benny Hinn: Net Worth $60 Million
Joel Osteen: Net Worth $40 Million
Creflo Dollar: Net Worth $27 Million
Rick Warren: Net Worth $25 Million
Joyce Meyer: Net Worth $8 Million
T.D. Jakes: $18 Million

Exposed? Wolves dressed badly as sheep are like those hideous cross-dressers who don’t make much of an effort in the first place. Not much of a disguise.

Exposed will be the ones with the clever costumes and scripted words — the throngs of sweet kindly preachers and their devoted disciples who “preach the Word” with the same boilerplate talking points and same lights on sins that need saving into perpetuity, goalposts moved down the road when needed. Ask them any question you want as long as you don’t question their answers and doctrines.

That’s when the mobs who have historically been fooled by the lockstep consensus wisdom gang up and tear after the few real prophets like Elijah who are onto the long-running, lucrative uniparty scam full of important personalities and settled-doctrine thuggery.

The system operates like the dogs that chase cars. By watching the chasers day after day, vigorously pursuing cars, observers might be convinced that those dogs are determined to catch the cars. But appearances are deceiving — if they actually caught the cars the game’s over.

The real Jesus of the Bible is the vehicle that can stop on a dime. Serves to cure the fake Messiah-chasers. Just. Like. That.

I would have thought Pat Robertson would be worth much more than that.

My grandfather once told me to never trust a preacher who owned more than one suit.

Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration. But I think grandpa was on the right track.

Yes he was. Depending on how old you are, your grandpa may have come from the time it was too expensive a luxury to have more than one :(
