People KNOW things that the bible simply does not support, but they will fight for their beliefs tooth an nail, and yet can not support them biblically.
I’ll admit that politics is personal and you might have come in contact with some very ignorant people.
Can you provide examples?
Amen, many catholic sects say they alone possess salvation, given to them by Christ, the church does not own salvation, Jesus does, be it so to you according to your faith, not some fake church which man likes to shove under God’s nose..
you know, the church deserves to be torn apart, keeper of the truth my butt, the birds of the field don’t sow or reap for food, why does man of little faith, I see no one shining in the glory of God, of Course God and Christ is true, we know this, but man claiming that their priest alone can transform the wafer into Christ body, never knew that all is part of Christ, no man, rome or pope needed..they extend authority which they are not given, and the result is many centuries of
pure hypocrisy, more suckin up to pagan priest who formed the church than seeking God, Bible is no longer used, the popes have determined it’s meaning,, in my world, God is in a relationship with us individually if we accept Christ salvation, he gives us individually the path to seek..
yea agreed, God never gave salvation to the church, the pagan king reformed the roman church to roman catholic, fashioned it after the pagan temples, not developed by the disciples, we are the church, not some canned one size fits all thing..where you have no freedom or real path..
Christ retains the power of salvation..the disciples knew very little, but gained knowledge to have the necessary faith to do God’s will..the church is not one particular way of thinking, it is a group of people who know Christ is their life..no priest needed, we have an all knowledgeable King
Can you provide examples?
Those who are not Catholic do not belive that when Christ said upon this or you I build my church, he was not speaking of the catholic church, he was speaking of those whom God lived in and showed truth after accepting , that is why Peter Knew he was the Christ, he was not speaking of men..only God builds his church man is not capable or knows what it is to be regardless of what is said.. I see no person or faith on earth that represents God truly, the world is dying in it’s arrogance..what would be true hell, leaving man to His own destiny of choosing...without guidance in infinity
Maybe you need to go back to Seattle. Just saying....
But no. I’ve always been very conservative in my beliefs, but have always had niggling doubts about some of the teachings I’ve embraced. One by one, as I study them, I either become more steadfast in those beliefs - or change them with the knowledge acquired with STUDYING (as opposed to merely reading) my bible. It’s shocking how much stuff we believe simply because someone told us as a child and we believed it, allowing incorrect teachings to color our interpretation of His word to support beliefs that, with a plain reading of scripture within the context of the verse, chapter and book, can not really be supported. And once one acquires knowledge from study, they either become more expert in their beliefs (can support them biblicaly), or they change them, and can now support their new beliefs.
I’ve experienced a lot of well read and studied biblical scholars in this area I now live. I’ve also been exposed to a LOT of dogmatism - People with strong beliefs that can not be supported biblically and actually run counter to what is actually in the bible. But some say “get thee behind me satan” when you even try to suggest they might be misled. That is never a good thing but then, nobody’s perfect.
Jesus Himself, when faced with disagreement,
Applied always to the Scriptures as the Law
And some people consider the Pope to be a rigid conservative. After all, he lives behind a wall.
VENITE ADORAMUS
IN CHRISTO REGE
But could you give some examples of the things people in your area and experience (in KY) know that the Bible does not support?
Here’s the core point: People can be dogmatic even if they are right. Sometimes I find people that I completely agree with, but here is the problem: They don’t just agree with me. They dogmatically do it. That is, they have a strong adversarial viewpoint regarding anyone that dares to disagree - and yet they can not support their position logically or even spiritually. They simply believe it.
Yes, you can be right and still be dogmatic about it.
The closest I can come to answering your question is to say that there are a lot of dogmatic interpretations of Psalm 82.
And a scholarly discussion on the topic: https://drmsh.com/the-plural-elohim-of-psalm-82-gods-or-men/
Emporer Palpatine has spoken!
Do you agree or disagree with Heiser?
Whether Heiser is right or wrong, he makes a very strong case for his "Sons of God" and "Divine Council" thesis.
I don't think most congregants are even familiar with Heiser. Many ministers I speak with are not.
That said, because of his position at Logos Bible Software, the research he has done in writing "Unseen Realms," and because of the implications of what has been found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, many leading Protestant theologians are coming around to his POV.
As a born again Christian, I and we, my wife and I, have certain dogmatic beliefs and practices that "the world" scoffs at.
And the longer I live, the more I see the world slide downhill
. as it refuses to adopt dogmatic thought processes and practices.
There’s a rumor about him resigning next year. We’ll see.
He’s about the only man on the planet capable of being that False Prophet currently. Working very hard as you say!
No I didn’t, and thank you!
This anti-Christian Satanic Pope needs to take a walk and never be seen or heard from again.
Amen Bro!
I was born/raised Catholic and woke up to the smell of reality with Biblical truth my first year in college.
I was on my way to hell thanks to the false premise of works-based salvation that the RCC taught in their schools. The Good News - The Gospel, and belief alone in Christ Jesus needs to be taught.
The Lord had mercy on me and brought me His Good News via Christians.
Romans 10:15
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Amen!
Why couldn’t our Pope belong to an order that takes a vow of silence.
