How about masturbation?
No; the pulling out was not a sin; the REASON for pulling out was.
7 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord slew him.
8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
10 And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also.
Like those 7 Catholic churches that John wrote to in the first three chapters of Revelation?
I am assuming you are Protestant so I am providing some links that are from non-Catholic sources.

The last is a rather long piece but I think touches on many important points about Christian life and marriage.
Now for the most part the articles are concerned with the marital relationship between husband and wife. So the question of artificial contraception is not discussed. But remember the Trinity is a life giving union. And marriage should reflect that just as it reflects the relationship of God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Marriage tells us much more than just how a man and woman are supposed to come together. It reveals to us the nature of God Himself.
What has one to do with the other?
Huh??
Youre making the claim that Onan was put to death for his disobedience (in not impregnating Tamar). But Shelah was the third son of Judah who was to take this role. However, even though Judah had told Tamar he would bring Shelah to her when he grew older, he didnt do this.
There were two men who failed in their duties with regard to Tamar.
My position is that Onan was killed for wasting his seed; Judahs survival confirms my point. Your claim is that Onans disobedience led to his death; my question is, why didnt Judah also end up dead?
Strange; I don't remember making a 'claim'; but I thought I posted the scripture that addressed this.
You've a valid question; but you are asking the wrong person.
I quite often fail in my attempts to mindread GOD.
You need to ask Him directly.
If you are going to maintain the position that Onans death was due to disobedience, then it is very much in your interest to get the answer to this question.
It seems to me that the REAL question is:
Why ain’t ALL of us males DEAD??
