Naval officer 'card-carrying' member of The Satanic Temple
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (ChurchMilitant.com) - The U.S. Navy is blocking a satanic service planned by a member of The Satanic Temple (TST).
Naval officials are claiming a naval officer who is a self-avowed satanist cannot conduct services at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The Navy asserts that the ceremonies, initially scheduled to take place every Thursday at 7 p.m., cannot happen because of the officer's ties to TST, an entity deemed a "political organization" by the U.S. Navy.
On October 8, the officer sent an email to members of his battalion announcing the ceremony promising discussions of "satanic philosophy" and "discussion of [the] literary history of Satan."
The officer claimed the intentions are to "promote critical thinking and discussion on Satanic values as they pertain to our lives."
Journalist Rod Dreher, journalist at the American Conservative who published the leaked email, noted the officer's email set off "a firestorm," to which the officer quickly sent out another email attempting to explain the ceremony.
While admitting he is a "card-carrying member" of The Satanic Temple, the officer maintains, "this is not sponsored or endorsed by The Satanic Temple, and that the services simply use the philosophy of The Satanic Temple religion as its medium," adding, "Not I, nor anyone who attends services, should be taken as representing the views or opinions of The Satanic Temple."

This man needs to be taken seriously and told that the United States will never knowingly give aid to the Devil. If the constitution needs to be amended I’m sure it will be forthwith.
I do have to say that as a Navy grad myself, the whole idea of a Chief sending out a mass communication to the entire Brigade of Midshipmen is weird as hell on it's own.
Now the people who requested that would serve fine as a tripping wire in Syria.

When email started developing a life of its own, the good commands quickly developed protocols. It became too easy for all the third butter cutters of the world to start tasking people for crap too stupid to put in a regular naval message. That came to a screeching halt. Conversely, if anybody abused the email internally by sending garbage to everybody, they never forgot the ensuing chat with the XO. I would hope this CPO is having lots of little chats working up to face-time with, and a major ass-kicking by, VADM Buck.
