No one knows the mind of God, except for God himself. He is infinite; we are finite. We are not entirely clueless about his character, however, because God speaks to us through his Word. According to the Bible, one reason bad things happen is because the whole world is under the control of the evil one (1 John 5:19). That’s why Jesus taught us to ask God to deliver us from the evil one when we pray (Matthew 6:13). Even in the Garden of Eden — in paradise, before Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit — Satan was already there, waiting to tempt them to disobey God (Genesis 3:1–6).
Another reason bad things happen is because people sin. The reason why God allows people to sin and be tempted to sin is not for us to know — at least for now (Deuteronomy 29:29). What we do know is that when bad things happen, we should not rage against God. To revolt against God is to fall prey to the devil. The devil is a liar (John 8:44) and wants us to believe that God is blameworthy. But the Bible says that God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). God is not the enemy; Satan is the enemy. Through his Spirit God empowers us to war against the enemy by following Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior — during good times and bad times.

Indeed, although I do detect sarcasm and cynicism and unbelief in your comment....
Have you asked Him for help or just look at the wasteland mankind and sin has established with all of its horror and suffering and blame God?
You see, the Believer in Jesus has a hope and a future ( and even if we are all sadly mistaken, its better to live with hope than without....).

I understand, sorry for your loss. I suggest personally reading the Bible, it helped me immensely in understanding questions that were not answered in religious retreats.
Saved my faith, I understand much more now.
Define imperfection. A people of robots without the ability to sin would not have the ability to choose. Which means they would not have the ability to love.

Name ONE perfect human.
Who says God ever wanted a s perfect human? Humans are exactly what God designed them to be.
You are defining perfection from your perspective not Gods.

Sounds like you are now admitting God created imperfect humans.

Then why create humans knowing he would have to send fire and water to destroy them?
Because that that plan from the beginning. It’s not like Jesus was plan B.
If we could could figure out why God does everything he does he wouldn’t be much of a God. He certainly wouldn’t be eternal or omniscient.
My faith is strong. The most difficult challenges it faces is from many of my “Christian” friends.
You got that right!
But then, instead of “the great revival” the Bible speaks of the great apostasy. Like Jesus said, “when I return, will I find faith?”
The biblical kind is getting pretty rare...

How do you know what God’s plan is?
I know because scripture tells me - at least as much of it as we are meant to know.
