[Catholic Caucus] Pope admits: Traditional Latin Mass is the Future

Ok, he did not say that exactly...

What he did say on September 12, however, would certainly lead to that logical conclusion:

"To be modern, some believe that it is necessary to break away from the roots. And this is their ruin, because the roots, the tradition, are the guarantee of the future,” Pope Francis said Sept. 12 ...[i]n an a audience with nearly 200 members of the General Chapter of the Discalced Augustinians, the pope explained that “true tradition” is like the roots that bring a tree sap that allows it to grow, flourish, and bear fruit. “Never break away from your roots to be modern, that's suicide,” Francis told the Augustinians. I too wonder, to what extent there will be an embrace of Eastern rites and Byzantine elements.

Duh.

I told them that in 1962.

You have to be careful with this Pope - do not apply LOGIC as an operative analytical tool to anything he SAYS ….

“Never break away from your roots to be modern, that's suicide,”

You know, every once in a while, I think this guy reads a speech that someone else wrote for him. Either that or he had some hidden motive to deliver this particular message to this particular audience. His whole shtick for the past 6 years has been to promote modernism, cast off traditions, advise listening for “signs of the times,” and advocate giving a free hand to the so-called “God of Surprises.” Not buying the idea that he suddenly sees any value in tradition.

He has the bizarre habit of passionately proclaiming 180o opposite things, invariably within 24 hours, and often enough in contiguous paragraphs.

He is either--- well, you know -- _______ or _____________.

That is a Peronista tactic... tell everyone what they want to hear.

He says one thing one day, and the opposite the next.

He can't be trusted.

Is this the occasional bone he tosses to the rigid right-wing traditionalists?

The Amazon Synod is looming. Expect Bergoglio to say lots of "Catholic stuff" in the coming weeks as he attempts to burnish his Catholic bona fides before the do-do really hits the fan.

Peronist -— exactly. That’s the word I was looking for.

When he first took office I believe there was mention that he had a background working with other rites which left me hoping could lead to an incorporation of their music and hymns used during Christmas and other liturgical seasons but never happened.
