"Dambisa Moyo's Dead Aid reveals why millions are actually poorer because of aid, unable to escape corruption and reduced, in the West's eyes, to a childlike state of beggary.

We all want to help. Over the past fifty years $1 trillion of development aid has flowed from Western governments to Africa, with rock stars and actors campaigning for more. But this has not helped Africa. It has ruined it.

Dead Aid shows us another way. Using hard evidence to illustrate her case, Moyo shows how, with access to capital and with the right policies, even the poorest nations can turn themselves around. First we must destroy the myth that aid works - and make charity history."

Not only have African countries chosen poor leaders, but have also embraced socialism, communism and sharia law... all are guaranteed failures. The Muslim countries especially have been held back by sharia law which keeps them in a 6th century tribal culture. Imagine how an African nation, rich with natural resources, could prosper under a US style republic form of government and embracing capitalism.

you are wrong

1. Rwanda since after the genocide has been remade and is booming economically and socially
2. Ethiopia since it junked socialism has been booming
3. Botswana has been quietly growing since the 1950s
4. Senegal too has missed the coups etc. and has been growing socially and economically
5. Kenya and Tanzania are doing well economically - politically they are still troublesome, but there is improvement happening over decades.
