Bishops are compounding the idiocy coming from Rome. Somewhere I recall the admonition, “Render unto Caesar....etc”.IOW get out of my politics. At least one third of those “Families” aren’t families at all but a human version of “Enterprise Rent-a- Kid-”.

2. If (1) is no, why lump a protestant denomination in with Catholics? I don’t recall reading about Lutherans being overly caring for illegals.
3. Even given (1) and (2), how does a deluge of illegals make big, big, money for anybody?

Christian sociologists believe that certain social institutions are ordained by God. Family, church, work, education, and the state are all important. Each of these has its own identity, nature, integrity, authority, and sovereignty, and they are not reducible to the other. Each must protect the other and not interfere with the proper functions of each other.
Nothing is stopping the families from being united in their home countries. That being said, immigration policy is a political question subject to prudential judgment. It is not a quest of either faith or morals. The bishops should stay out of it, one way or the other. Nor is any Catholic bound to follow them in such matters. Promote the faith and leave politics to the laity.

Mythoughts, one of those articles is three years old, from the Obama era. And I got the impression from reading both articles that this money goes to resettling legitimate immigrants [not saying I agree with that either].
I can’t find any mention of illegals.
