I don’t believe a word of it, we are not talking about Babylon but mystery Babylon.

It plainly says heaven and earth.

In KJV it says the elements will melt with fervent heat and that the earth will be burnt up - it does NOT say, as you said "the Heavens and earth will melt" -- don't distort the biblical verses please

Here is the text from the KJV

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

and in greek 10 ἥξει δὲ [a]ἡμέρα κυρίου ὡς [b]κλέπτης, ἐν ᾗ οἱ οὐρανοὶ ῥοιζηδὸν παρελεύσονται, στοιχεῖα δὲ καυσούμενα [c]λυθήσεται, καὶ γῆ καὶ τὰ ἐν αὐτῇ ἔργα [d]εὑρεθήσεται. meaning the same

it's easy as you did, to mix up the three points, but it plainly says

  1. Heavens pass away
  2. elements melt
  3. earth be burnt up

Three different things

And those three describe perfectly the scenario described by Josephus about the destruction of Jerusalem by the 10th legion in 69-70 AD

It's not what I see, but what john of Patmos saw -- and it is clearly stated in Apocalypse that this was the "great city" where the Lord was crucified.

Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem, just for your information

“Come, I will show you the judgement of the great harlot” (Apoc. 17:1) refers to Jerusalem. This makes it clear that the harlot city, the woman on the beast is Jerusalem.

God’s judgement is on the city that “shed the blood of saints and prophets” as seen in John’s day - this echoes Jesus Christ’s own words when He spoke of Jerusalem “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you... Behold your house is forsaken and desolate” (Matthew 23:37-38)

We see the same in Isaiah 1:21 “How the faithful city has become a harlot, she that was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers”

And, as I said it is clear that the harlot rides the beast that later devours her — imagery of Jerusalem riding the Roman Empire which ultimately devours her

I guess you can't debate with any of these, so I'd suggest you take down the bible and have a look at hte book of the Apocalypse of St John of Patmos

So you regard that prophecy as having been fulfilled. That your church was devoured by the very same Rome that devoured Jerusalem, well, I guess that gets lost in translation when one regards one’s own church as having replaced Judaism and Jerusalem in Gods covenant.

Look at your Pope, listen to him. What is he saying? He’s not just apostate, he’s a blasphemer. Keep your eyes open. You seem to be a decent believing Christian although we disagree upon some things.

But, “the beast” system is future, not past. There you are badly mistaken and will be caught up in it if you’re not aware.

How can you not believe a word of the book of the Apocalypse?

Apocalypse 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucifiedit's not mysterious - it's put plainly - Jerusalem is the new babylon -

it's not about what I regard - it's about Jesus who said "in THIS generation" -- Matthew 24:24 "Truly I say to you, THIS GENERATION will not pass away till all these things take place"

The temple meant the world to Israel - literally. For Jesu and the people of Israel in His day, the destruction of hte temple symbolized the end of the world. That is why Jesus' sermons on the end of the world are always given in the contect of a prediction of the destrcution of Jerusalem and its temple.

And Jesus was true to His prophecy. In AD 70, about 40 years (one generation) after He ascended back into heaven, Jerusalem and its temple were destroyed

the Beast is the roman Empire which devoured - it was in the future for John but the past for us - the harlot-city, Jerusalem

REad the book of the Apocalypse

Your church is a continuation of that same Roman Empire, Pontifex Maximus and all.

Pay attention. Your interpretation of prophecy comes through that organization, thus it’s skewed in a self-serving manner.

Look at your Pope, listen to what he’s saying. How can you deny this?

Jeruslem is not earth and heaven so it’s plain you don’t like the translation.

This is about Jesus and Jesus promise - where He said "in THIS generation" -- Matthew 24:24 "Truly I say to you, THIS GENERATION will not pass away till all these things take place"

Jesus was true to His prophecy. In AD 70, about 40 years (one generation) after He ascended back into heaven, Jerusalem and its temple were destroyed

that's why Jesus in MAtthew 23:29-38 says
Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites.... Thus you witness against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets... Truly I say to you, All this will come upon this generation.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets... Behold your house is forsaken and desolate
This is the significance of the second coming where Jerusalem, the harlot-city referred to in the book of the Apocalypse, is judged - the "coming" being the point of Judgement echoing Isaiah 19:1 "Behold the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence"
and
Isaiah 25:21 "The Lord is coming to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity"

And similarly in Jeremiah 4:11-13 "Behold he comes up like clouds... woe to us, for we are ruined."

Remember also that the Second Coming terminology relates to Matthew 13 where the wicked are burnt up

Christ did come back spiritually where the 1000 year reign is the age of christianity - the 1000 number, just as the numbers 6 and 7 which are sprinkled through the book of the Apocalypse is symbolic.

Finally, the early Christians believed that - which is why they ran to the mountains when the beast (the Roman Empire) devoured the harlot (the city of Jerusalem). and the New Temple, Jesus (as in John, the body of Christ is the Temple) and the new Jerusalem, Christendom, was God’s promise, fulfilled

The thing is what does the original text say? ηξει δε η ημερα κυριου ως κλεπτης εν νυκτι εν η οι ουρανοι ροιζηδον παρελευσονται στοιχεια δε καυσουμενα λυθησονται και γη και τα εν αυτη εργα κατακαησεται The day of Lord will come like a thief in which the heavens with a roar, will pass away and the elements burning with heat will be dissolved and the earth and the works in it will not be found The original texts has 3 separate things - the elements (stones of the foundations of Jerusalem and the temple) melting, the heavens will roar and the earth under Jerusalem will be destroyed.

The Wedding Present

This wedding was made in heaven – the marriage of Christ and His Church. Christ (Jesus during his life on earth) gave up his earthly life to make this Bride perfectly acceptable.

And she certainly was! – perfected in the blood of his sacrifice for her. Only God could make a bride fully acceptable to God – and this was His bride.

The wedding hall was filled – not with those who would have been “expected” to be invited, but with those who had suffered and died supporting this new groom. Never has an assembly been so happy – so excited – so honored to be there. Clearly, He was the hero – the man for all ages. But what gift could he possible give to this new “perfect” bride? What could be worthy of such a moment?

The only thing worthy was Paradise itself! So, that’s what he did. He took the Heavenly Jerusalem and lowered it to earth – he really did! Now – for his church, the bride – heaven and earth become one. No longer would we need to wait – no longer wail – no longer look for “pie in the sky”. It was here – and now! For the first time since Adam, we were a peace with our Creator.

The evil one knew what had happened, and he had only one weapon left – deception! If he could just get people to believe that this was a future promise and not for them, then they would not accept the gift at all. They would continue to live as though nothing had changed. But everything had changed! All the church had to do was open the gift.

So what are we to do? How shall we open this gift of the ages? And who can open it? These questions must be asked before they can be answered. But I believe the Church has the promise of the ages in its hands – if only she could get through the deception.

Until then, the greatest wedding present of all time will remain un-opened. What a pity!
