Please, do not take this personally. I do not know you or your situation well enough to comment on.

However, I can state whole heatedly that whatever our circumstances may be , that is the current classroom they are being educated, molded and conditioned by.

Long work hours, stress, bills ,etc are more often the norm than we would like. But, it is in those environments, or at least overcoming them, where our children learn how to stand and develop confidence in knowing they can and will work through it.

I’m not saying that suffering is a preferred path for educating children, just a common one that, thankfully presents just as much education material as any other.

For now, I am ok with sending my kids to Catholic school but we are very involved and will absolutely engage if we see any turn towards radical leftism.

Thank you for your wise and patient answer.
I was appalled by the individual's rudeness and it's people like him that make me reluctant to participate in FR discussions. Unfortunately, he represents the level of civility of more Freepers than we care to admit.

We have home-schooled our daughter for 13 years - she graduates at the end of May with seven other home-schooled Seniors.
It has been challenging, but at the same time such a blessing. God is good.

"OK moron I’m a contractor - wife is a social worker We both work full-Time..."

Pathetic that you would start off your response by calling her a "moron".

My wife's earning power was similar to mine - but we went to a single paycheck when our daughter was born.
We do without a LOT of things other families enjoy, and have really tightened our belts to be able to do this.

But we knew that we could never get those 13 years back once they had slipped by - so we gladly subjugated our "wants" for the "needs" of our daughter.

Maybe your "moron" comment was subconsciously directed back at yourself?

Parents who can homeschool their kids, definitely should. If that’s not possible, put them in a private Christian school.

We know two families who homeschool and they’re miserable failures. The kids have no chance of a good future under the circumstances. Generally, that isn’t the case, though.

Same here with six kids. I’m often amazed at God’s provision. Then other times I pout over my ugly house, old vehicle, etc. But those times are getting fewer as I realize how short the time is with my kids at home. Oldest has grown up and moved out, next one will be gone soon.

That is one of the saddest post I have ever seen here on FR. I will pray for your kids.

Please share: for years people have pushed me to produce a complete curriculum for my “Patriot’s History of the United States.” I didn’t have the web/marketing support, but two years ago I found the people I needed.

We have produced a full curriculum, aimed at grades 9-12, complete with teacher guides, study guides, tests, maps, and 22 video lessons of me teaching all chapters of “A Patriot’s History.”

Go to www.wildworldofhistory.com

The video lessons alone are worth the price. “Patriot’s History” is the #1 homeschool/high school textbook, in use in over 100 colleges, hundreds of high schools and homeschools and is a part of “Classical Conversations.” But this curriculum is specifically focused on US History, Columbus to Trump.

Even homeschooling your kids isn’t enough. The deranged, degraded culture is all around and will seep into your kids lives as deadly poison. It will take massive work to both inoculate your kids against this poison as well as shield them from the more aggressive propaganda. This first of all means banning t.v., internet and other social media sources from the home, except in the most filtered forms.

Actually, to keep your children safe, it is necessary to create our own society, a cultural group in which our kids grow up. In most cases, this is the Church, if a particular church group has not already been seduced by the media monster. Otherwise, it is a very tall order.

How many stories of homeschooled and private Christian schooled children are out there where the children STILL went to the dark side? I personally know several.

You sound violently defensive, probably for good reason.

Bless you for putting this curriculum together. I will buy it for my son for US history next year.

As parents, all we can do is our best. Nothing is guaranteed.

Just curious about what happened... Did the kids turn into criminals? Or did they just not do well academically?

Thank you.

In the works right now is World History, 1715-present. Should be available by next March at the latest, and probably a course on “Making Exceptional Entrepreneurs: Lessons from History.”

The vitriol you spewed at someone who didn’t say a word to you nor called you out by name is alarming. Why do you have such anger at someone simply for what they posted? I’m guessing you read the title of the post - why did you decide to open it up? Just to hurl insults at a longtime Freeper who has advocated home schooling for years? Your aggression seems misplaced.

My wife and I are both college educated. She was an 8th grade English teacher at a private Christian school. We decided that she would be a homemaker before we started our family. We knew that meant living on my income alone. We were committed to doing it that way and made whatever sacrifices were necessary. That meant that I worked two or three jobs sometimes at over 100 hours a week.

We didn’t have a boat or a camper. We didn’t go on Disney vacations or rent a Jersey shore house. We made the most out of every opportunity we had and took our three daughters almost everywhere we went (except for marriage conferences = )).

After 22 years of homeschooling, my eldest daughter earned a full tuition scholarship to a big city university, graduated, applied to 10 graduate schools and was accepted at 8 of them. She begins her grad school in May.

My middle daughter is currently at the same university and earned the same full tuition scholarship. She graduates next year with a double major in Speech/Language Pathology and Spanish. She will also earn certificates in Arabic and Linguistics. She is prepping for her GRE exam and will start applying to grad schools this summer.

My youngest daughter completed her homeschooling last year and wants nothing to do with college. She is currently working as a tech in a physical therapy clinic.

All of this was accomplished on one income that never exceeded $50K/year. And we own our home and all the vehicles we drive. Did we do without? You betcha. But we wouldn’t trade those years for any amount of $$ you would throw at us.

It’s your choice. I don’t know what all is included in your monthly debt number, but where you have the ability to downsize/do without, do so. It won’t kill you and you will probably never miss it. If you choose not to, that’s your choice to make as well. But reaming someone out on a public forum because you choose a different path than they did seems misguided.

All the best to you and your family. And a blessed Resurrection Day to you as well.

$9,000/month?

Is someone seriously sick ( physically) in your household?

Or....Where are you living?
