Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
How Blessed and Hallowed is Your Most Wonderful and Holy Name!
You Alone are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer of All Things.

Dear Father, There is So Much Evil in our World!
Every Day we hear another story of how the wicked plot together
Against You, or against the people who love You.
Every Day, Another leak,
another lie,
another revelation of duplicity,
Of plots and schemes.
Expose them to the Light, Oh LORD!
For their wickedness can flourish only under the cover of darkness.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Leaders of Our Nation,
May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

ML/LTOS

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Certain things are a matter of public record. There are people who scour the public records daily, and attempt to obtain "customers" by zeroing in on other people's life-events. If you have ever had a baby, bought a home, had a change in credit status, or been cited in a traffic violation, your mailbox soon became flooded with "offers". By far, the worst activity of this kind was immediately after my sudden and violent widowhood seven years ago. The phone rang non-stop, even interrupting my calls as I made funeral arrangements. There was no "caller ID" at the time so I had to answer. I was so flustered that I actually fell for some of the scams and lost what little money I had. My mailbox and email had so many "offers"that I couldn't find my REAL mail. People were even driving up to my home and hanging their "offers" on the doorknob! When people are in trauma, they are very vulnerable to scams and don't have their usual "safety alarms". Now, seven years later, I am so wary of scam calls and email that I have been known to "spoof" them by keeping telemarketers on the phone only to lead them on a wild goose chase and have them hang up on ME! Of course, I may be missing out on the "lost fabled gold of the Libyan Empire that Kaddafi's widow will share with me if I would only give her by bank account number and password" LOL.

In the First Century, widows were even more vulnerable. Their breadwinner was dead, and if they were childless, there was nobody to take care of them. There was no life insurance, no social security, no pensions, and no community "Senior Center." Unless her husband had provided for her in the event of his death, or if other family members took her in, she was in a tough situation. The Torah provided for widows with the practice of gleaning, which was a big theme in The Book of Ruth. There was also a provision for the widow if her husband had not produced any children.

However, it would seem from the book of Acts that these widow-helping practices were no longer in general use. There was even a distinction between "Hellenistic" Widows (those who spoke Greek and had adopted a lot of Gentile customs) and "Hebraic" Widows who were, more traditionally Jewish. We also get the impression that these widows weren't congenial with each other, and yet, had become part of the nascent Christian Community.

One can only imagine the Apostles, preaching, teaching, evangelizing, disciplining, and running around trying to keep all these widows fed and happy. The first seven Deacons were originally appointed to serve these widows. But they were not mere "waiters". All of them are described as powerful speakers who were men of integrity, and "Filled With The Holy Spirit." Stephen goes on to preach to the Sanhedrin, defend his faith, and become the First Christian Martyr.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance..” Psalm 33 NASB

Sad story. My mother was taken advantage some when my dad died. Though we looked after her, we were in different states.

Pure religion and undefiled
before God and the Father is this,

To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,
and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:27

Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem and for revival in our beloved America.

Agreeing in prayer.

I still have my land-line and plan on keeping it. . .especially since the article I saw featured on the Drudge Report said that cell phones support memory loss and I need all the help I can get :) I have caller ID and the answering machine. I DO NOT pick up unless I am familiar with the caller’s number. If they didn’t leave a message, then they must not have wanted to talk with me very badly and then I don’t return the call unless I know without a doubt it is legit!

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"Saint Peter Consecrating the Seven Deacons"
Fresco - Fra Angelico - c. 1450
Niccoline Chapel - Vatican

_ ND in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is
Not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
