THE BIBLICAL LAST DAYS ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE
Facebook ^ | June 21, 2018 | Charles Meek

Did you know that there are 15 mentions in the New Testament of the biblical last days or end times—and that the setting and fulfillment of none of them can be placed outside the first century? Here are four of them:

“Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, ON WHOM THE END OF THE AGES HAS COME.” (Apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 10:11)

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but IN THESE LAST DAYS He has spoken to us by his Son. . . .” (Writer of Hebrews, Hebrews 1:1-2)

“The END OF ALL THINGS is AT HAND.” (Apostle Peter, 1 Peter 4:7)

“Children, IT IS THE LAST HOUR.” (Apostle John, 1 John 2:18)

It is clear. Unambiguous. All the writers of the New Testament spoke with one voice on this. The “last days/end times” were not thousands of years later. They, themselves, were living in the last days. You cannot push the last days beyond the generation of men who were writing the New Testament without doing violence to the text.

There is only one logical conclusion. The last days are not about the end of the world. They are not about a supposed end of the Christian age. They are not about a future millennium. Rather, they marked the last days of the OLD COVENANT DISPENSATION, which came to a violent end in AD 70 at the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple.

Where do you suppose that these writers of the New Testament got such an idea? Well, from our Lord himself, of course, in such passages at Matthew 23 and 24. In these and many other passages, Jesus placed the “end” at the time of the destruction of the temple. For more detail, see my two-part series here:

Freepers, if you have an objection to the conclusion in this article, how about presenting your evidence from the Bible itself (rather from a denominational echo chamber or the daily newspaper).

Who were the 144,000? What was the Mark of the Beast? Where is the new Heaven and new Earth. When was Satan let loose from his bondage? When did the battle in the valley of Migido happen? When did antichrist rule from the Temple? Why would St John write a book of prophecy that had already occurred?

"At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens".

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father".

Not a joking matter but was this topic inspired by fears of a Pelosi headed Dem House after the 2018 midterms? God forbid. Amen.

Oh, I certainly object. I hear this theory every now and then, usually promoted by those who dislike modern Israel for some reason, and seek to use this to explain away Israel’s unique, God-ordained role in present and future events.

There are endless ways to disprove this notion that most or all end-times prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD, but one of the most obvious is that the vast majority of scholars agree that John wrote the book of Revelation around 96 AD. That simple fact clearly makes it impossible for the events depicted in Revelation to have been referencing what would then have been the past.

Excellent timing. I was just on this subject -- the Hebrew word for time itself (zeman).

Various etymologies are inconclusive, but they say it's derived from Aramaic.

The point is, imitative words are pretty universal.

And there's Hebrew zamzam, zamzum (buzzing, buzzer), and of course that is like our English "buzz" or "zoom", from the buzzing sound that whatever-it-is that is zooming by [or overhead] makes..

zeman/zaman... zam plus the nun suffix that forms abstract nouns. Not ohn like the Hebrew sound of the ending, but ahn as the Aramaic.

Hence the word time is essentially bzzzt, "it's time", or "time's up". A word built off of the "buzzer" that marks that the time is no more. Like the FR use of "zot", it's the big zap.

Concerning the timing of the building of the State of Israel, because it doesn't mean a thing to those who can't tell the time:

"Zum Gali Gali" is a traditional Hebrew song relating to the formation of the State of Israel, originating sometime around its creation. The songs main verse goes, "Zum Gali, Gali, Gali, Zum Gali Gali." It was originally written in Hebrew and translated into English.

>>>

Translation of the Hebrew

Zum gali gali [rhythmic words, no meaning - but gal means wave and galgal means wheel, maybe this does matter to express continousity in some way]*
The pioneer for the sake of the work,
The work for the sake of the pioneer.

English versions

Pioneers work hard on the land,
Men and women work hand in hand.
As they labor all day long,
They lift their voices in song
.

From the dawn till setting sun
Every one finds work to be done.
From the dawn till night does come
There's a task for everyone.

http://www.thefullwiki.org/Zum_Gali_Gali

*"No meaning", that's absurd:

Zum zum zum zum (= humming and buzzing along, working together in cooperation, building the state)
gali gali gali = a wheel, rolling, circuit

The rhythmic words (same as the title) are exactly what the theme of the song and the lyrics are all about.

And it goes around in a circle because it's a round.

Altos, trebels, all together now, Zum Gali Gali

Biblical "scholarship" is a vertitable dead zone. Cranky messengers with dead messages. Time's up for the crypt keepers.

The Messiah is coming soon, with a song (zamar) of peace and harmony, for anyone interested in working together on finishing the big building project built on love.

"This generation": wicked, evil, faithless, perverse, unbelieving, adulterous, crooked generation.

Spiritual talk is different than talks of the flesh. God talks is spiritual talk (light of the world, bread of heaven, you will never thirst again, etc).

The “new heaven and new earth” reflects a totally new way for heaven and earth to relate to one another - totally new. God and His man (and woman) can now relate to one another the way God and Adam were before the first sin. This is God’s heart, and His Son has delivered it for Him. The Second Adam has reversed the consequences of the first Adam - the creating a “new heaven and a new earth”.

We’ve been in the last days since the coming of Jesus - His coming marked the beginning of the last days:

Hebrews 1:2
but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

1 Peter 1:20
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you

But, as many of you already mentioned, no knows the day when Jesus will return. Just be ready and be faithful in doing the Father’s business.

Of course, that brings up the question, what does “this generation” mean. It clearly means what it says--the generation of those then living in the first century.

Does it? This doesn't look like a world where Jesus rules. More like someone else. Despite that, I know I can look forward to two things: death and then judgement. The Kingdom can come when it wants.

There have been multiple dispensations in which God operated in various ways to achieve His sovereign purpose. The passages you cited refer to us being in the final dispensation before the time of judgment.

The events of 70 A.D. are connected to the end of the world. The second temple had to be destroyed in fulfillment of the Olivet prophecies of Christ.

Yet, not all of these prophecies were fulfilled then. For many reasons, the abomination of desolation did not and could not have occurred then.

Matthew 24:14-15
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Therefore when you see the “abomination of desolation,” spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand)...

Daniel 9:24, 26-27
Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy...
And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined. Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.

This final dispensation of grace before God’s judging of the world will include the rebuilding of the temple and another desolation of that temple when the abomination of desolation occurs.

The reason that God has delayed the end of this final dispensation of superabounding grace is to give more opportunity for people to repent and be saved.

2 Peter 3:9, 15
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance...
and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you.

As others have pointed out in response to this article, there are many things that were not fulfilled in 70 A.D., nor subsequent to it, and until now.

There will be the Great Tribulation, the Day of the Lord which will commence when Christ gathers His chosen people and will be a time of God’s wrath poured out on the world, Christ will return to earth, defeat anti-Christ, and set up the Kingdom of God on earth in which peace will thrive for a thousand years with Satan locked away. There will be one final war after this, and Christ’s kingdom will remain forever.

Another note on the length of dispensations. The dispensation of the Law was approximately 1500 years.

Luke 16:16
The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

The dispensations of Conscience (the Fall until Noah) and of Human Government were of a similar length.

So spending 2000+ years in the last dispensation before the judgment is not exceptional.

This is also addressed by Peter in 2 Peter 3.

Pretty clear...

Matthew 25:13
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

2 Peter 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

The proof is in the mere fact that evil is still amongst us and people are still not awake. It really is that simple... PERIOD

Every generation of Christians thinks it’s living in the end times.

No worries, mate! Most of the Christians on Free Republic these days call themselves "Jews."

You can tell by the way they post about "Yeshuah," cite Hebrew translations of the New Testament and delight in teaching the rest of us Hebrew and Israeli cultureas if they just walked off the kibbutz.

These missives from the heartland are particularly delightful for "actual" Jews on FR (yes, there are ones who do not worship "Yeshuah Ha'Melech..." Who live or have lived in Israel.

I eagerly await the changing of FR handles such as "JesusComing" and "JManThreeSixteen" to more clandestine options, "ShlomofromNatanya," "BeitElBobby," "BatYamBoy," etc.
