Nope. Scripture no where says the bread is ever turned into His body.

What part of "This is My Body" don't you understand?

In spite of all the selected Scriptures you quoted we don't see the Roman Catholic Church in the New Testament.

Roman Catholicism says: Scripture and Tradition together are equal.

The New Testament says: Scripture alone is the Word of God (John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21; Mark 7:1-13).

Roman Catholicism says: Mary is the co-redeemer, for she participated with Christ in the painful act of redemption.

The New Testament says: Christ alone is the Redeemer, for He alone suffered and died for sin (1 Peter 1:18,19).

Roman Catholicism says: Mary is the co-mediator, to whom we can entrust all our cares and petitions.

The New Testament says: Christ Jesus is the one mediator to whom we can entrust all our cares and petitions (1 Timothy 2:5; John 14:13,14; 1 Peter 5:7).

Roman Catholicism says: The Roman Catholic Church is necessary for salvation.

The New Testament says: There is salvation in no one but the Lord Jesus Christ, “for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Roman Catholicism says: Each sacrifice of the Mass appeases God's wrath against sin.

The New Testament says: The once-for-all sacrifice of the cross fully appeased God's wrath against sin (Hebrews 10:12-18).

Roman Catholicism says: The sacrificial work of redemption is continually carried out through the sacrifice of the Mass.

The New Testament says: The sacrificial work of redemption was finished when Christ gave His life for us on the cross (Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 1:3).

>>Oh no....I want you to read Acts 2-4 and try to figure this out for yourself.<<

This is My Body

Figure that one out

Already have...you have to keep the passage in context.

Why won't you answer a simple question? Because you can't, using Scripture.

Already have.

Nope. Scripture no where says the bread is ever turned into His body. What part of "This is My Body" don't you understand?

You claimed the following: Scripture says the Apostles - the first priests of the Church Christ established- have the sacramental powers to turn bread into His Body ("do this in remembrance of Me")

Scripture no where records the Apostles turning bread into His body.

The term transubstantiation did not come into existence until the 1200s.

Paul tells us why we have the Lord's Supper.... 23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 NASB

Hence the reason I said context is your key to understanding the New Testament.

In spite of all the selected Scriptures you quoted we don't see the Roman Catholic Church in the New Testament.

“Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Mat 16:17-18

What part of "I will build my Church" don't you understand?

The Roman Catholic church is not in the New Testament as noted in a prior post on this thread.

The ekklesia, the body of believers in only Christ for salvation, is however. That is the church He built.

Except your house of cards falls on your very first statement. Jesus Christ is the Rock on which the Church is built rendering every other card you place on your false foundation (peter) meaningless. Error multiplied on error does not equal truth no matter how stridently you insist

What does "This is my Body" mean?

Paul writes:

27Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Notice Paul does not say eat the flesh or drink the blood.

This may be of some help to you.

Matthew 26:26-29 Mark 14:22-24 Luke 22:14-20 John 13:21-26 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
26While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. 29“But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” 22While they were eating, He took some bread, and after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is My body.” 23And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.24And He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. 25“Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”. 14When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. 15And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; 18for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”19And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you;

do this in remembrance of Me.”

20And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

21When Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of you will betray Me.” 22The disciples began looking at one another, at a loss to know of which one He was speaking.23There was reclining on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. 24So Simon Peter gestured to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking.” 25He, leaning back thus on Jesus’ bosom, said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” 26Jesus then answered, “That is the one for whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him.” So when He had dipped the morsel, He took and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you;

do this in remembrance of Me.”

25In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Key Phrases/words:

Poured out: In the OT the blood sacrifice was never consumed; it was always poured out. We further have the drink offering which was poured out before God as a sacrifice (Ex 29:40, Numbers 15:4-5).

29.11 ἀνάμνησις, εως f: (derivative of ἀναμιμνῄσκω ‘to cause to remember,’ 29.10) the means for causing someone to remember—‘means of remembering, reminder.’ ἀλλ’ ἐν αὐταῖς ἀνάμνησις ἁμαρτιῶν κατ’ ἐνιαυτόν ‘but in those (sacrifices) there is a yearly reminder of sins’ or ‘… that people have sinned’ He 10:3. No. He says you should not eat or drink 'unworthily' That is, not believing the bread has become His body

Wow. You are ate up with the Roman Catholic talking points.

This is a clear case of the Roman Catholic practicing eisegesis...the process of interpreting a text or portion of text in such a way that the process introduces one's own presuppositions, agendas, or biases into and onto the text.

>>Jesus Christ is the Rock<<

Peter is the rock

Depends on which of the ECFs you want to lean on. They are all over the place on their understanding of the text.

However, if you do a word search on rock in both Old and New Testaments we see a different picture.

I invite Esie to the conversation with his most excellent list of rock in Scripture.

Elsie, the floor is yours!

What about good Popes like Benedict XVI?

The Catholic Church has had bad Popes before and is still here.

The Church will survive.

>>Notice Paul does not say eat the flesh or drink the blood.<<

But Christ did

And did Paul make this up? Nope.

23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you,....

Jesus also called what was in the cup the following:

But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine Matt 26:29, Mark 14:25, Luke 22:18

John records the bread as the morsel.

The writers of the New Testament, as moved by the Spirit, did not record a literal eating of the flesh and blood much as the Roman Catholic wants the text to say that.
