ST. BONIFACE, Manitoba, May 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — A Catholic cathedral parish that initially defended signing the Liberal pro-abortion attestation to receive summer job grants reversed its decision after LifeSiteNews contacted the archbishop, who subsequently intervened.

Once the pastor and administrator of St. Boniface Cathedral “realized the implications of the attestation, they have decided to immediately cancel” the summer job grants, Archbishop Albert LeGatt of St. Boniface diocese in Winnipeg told LifeSiteNews.

St. Boniface Cathedral issued a statement Friday confirming this.

“Following an internal consultation, we now realize that we are unable to support this certification and for this reason we have withdrawn our application to the Government of Canada,” read the statement, originally in French.

It sent a similar similar message to Service Canada.

Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government sparked a still-raging controversy this year by requiring employers to sign an attestation supporting “reproductive” and transgender “rights” to receive Canada Summer Job grants.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishop (CCCB) released a statement in January decrying the attestation as undermining Charter rights of religious freedom.

They're sorry they got caught.

Had it not been for a website based all the way over in Toronto spotting this and blowing the whistle, they would have taken the money and local Parishoners would have been none the wiser.
