What Will The Texas Bishops Do?
The Wanderer Press ^ | March 18, 2018 | CHRISTOPHER MANION

On March 7, Cong. Beto O’Rourke (D., El Paso) won the Democrat primary to run against Republican incumbent Ted Cruz. O’Rourke’s victory puts Texas bishops in a bind. Their legislative agenda and their political priorities put them on the same page as O’Rourke, the USCCB, and the Democrat left — on gun control, welfare, health care, the travel ban, refugee policy, Cuba policy, the Paris agreement, the death penalty, global warming, the environment, immigration, foreign aid, deportations, and border security.

Their only differences with Democrats lie in areas that magisterial teaching requires them to disagree: the anti-life, anti-family, anti-religious-freedom agenda which O’Rourke’s party now requires of all candidates.

Texas bishops have been in the forefront of the USCCB’s national campaign supporting legislation that will permanently write into law DACA, Obama’s unconstitutional diktat conferring amnesty on several million illegals. While DACA is quite unpopular in the Lone Star State, some Texas bishops are outsiders who apparently don’t like Texans anyway.

El Paso’s Bishop Mark Seitz hails from Wisconsin. Kevin Cardinal Farrell, a supporter of gun control who as bishop of Dallas complained about the “cowboy mentality” of his flock, comes from Ireland. (He undoubtedly exulted when Pope Francis promoted him to run a critical dicastery in the Vatican in 2016.)

The problem runs deeper than mere animosity. Bishop Seitz has yet to withdraw, much less apologize for, the attack he launched last summer on pro-life Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas, who leads a ten-state effort to challenge DACA in the federal courts. Nor has Seitz been reprimanded publicly for his nationally syndicated attack by even one of his brother bishops.

If they have positions on these issues then they are NOT a religion but a political one and should NOT have tax exemption.

But they should be compared to inner city AME “churches” to ascertain that status.

I doubt most Catholics vote according to what their bishops tell them but they do listen to what is being taught. The “social justice” side of the flock will vote with the Dems while the “family values” side will vote with the Republicans.

It will be interesting, too, to watch how many Hispanic Catholics get fooled by the non-Hispanic “Beto” versus the Cuban-heritage non-Catholic Cruz.

They need to go back and read their Bibles. They are just about on the wrong side of every issue. If you want to keep it simple, vote life! Worrying about illegals is NOT the main point of Scripture. Just imagine the country if 80% of Catholics voted for life, for Biblical marriage, Religious Freedom, ect. If they would just vote against abortion, America would win again. The same party protects the 1st Amendment and the 2nd Amendment.

How they talk themselves into voting Democrat is beyond me. The contortions they have to go through to support Gay Marriage and abortion would break most people's back. If you confront them about voting for abortion and sodomy, they deflect to illegals.

Such a shame, what’s happened with this SJ injection, into the Church.

As for fake hispanic Beto.....lets just start calling him by his ‘white’ name, Robert.

Robert O’Rourke vs Ted cRuz.

Beto vs Ted

Robert vs Raphael

Aye yai yai.

Why would folks think most American Catholic Bishops are pro life?

Of course Beto can count on most of them.

Texas bishops follow the same Alinsky Rules for Radicals as all Leftists, from Soros orgs, LA RAZA, Gays, et cetera, to the Democrat Party. Divide, harrumph, and keep moving left.

I am a Catholic in TX. I think illegal immigrants are higher on the Bishops’ food chain than the unborn.

Like most issues roiling the Church these days, this can all be traced back to the collection basket.

The Bishops are itching to import scores of Latin American illegals, thinking that since those countries are predominantly Catholic they’ll begin filling the pews and opening their wallets.

The reality is that our immoral, decaying, secular culture will likely pollute them and not vice-versa.
