You are very wrong if you think the Catholic church is afraid of hard questions about its theology.

You've got to be kidding.

Hard questions are the last thing I've seen Roman Catholics want to deal with on these threads.

Which Roman Catholic was it that ran to the mods complaining about "Roman Catholic" bashing?

How many caucus threads do Roman Catholics post to avoid the debate?

Wow you’re just a hundred pounds of the heat in a 5lb box aren’t you? You’re right that what we call curiosity today is what medieval people called Wonder. The Catholic Church praised and promoted Wonder. Read any of the Catholic medieval philosophers.

It astounds me sometimes the things Catholicism can make a sin out of that God NEVER mentions as sin in the Bible.

That must be a multiple choice question.

Does it have *E*, all of the above?

Some old “weird” fiction had at its core, the sin of curiosity. Frankenstein for one.

There are things that just lead to darkness. I am an engineer and an autodidact. The drive to learn more in VERY strong in me. However, I learned the hard way that there are things that a man just should not know.

Things that are forbidden Biblically are so for a reason, that you’ll discover if you dabble too much.

That’s funny.

“Debate” versus “attack”.

Which poster demanded that I never post to him again and cc’d the Religion Moderator?

HMMMmmm...

I could ask this very same question; but I don't care.

This is a freely entered forum and we can all reply; or not; to any, all or none at our pleasure (or pain).

Thin-skinnedness has NO place other than on the porch.

The big dogs play mighty rough.

You would be asking the wrong person.

No go clean up your mom's basement.

Your demand that I never post to you again, was solely in response to my question as to whether you could spell "eagle one".

Oh, and you’ve just committed a mortal sin I do believe. Best run down to the priest right now.

You state your position rightly and well, however, I believe in “Sola Scriptura”

God does not need the “help” of man, be he Catholic or Protestant. Some on the Protestant side have enshrined statements of confession, catechisms, or pronouncements and wrongly also placed them equal or above scripture - for example Calvinism.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:15–17).

If Scripture is “God-breathed,” then it is not man-breathed, and, although it was penned by men, those “men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). No man-made writing is sufficient to equip us for every good work; only the Word of God can do that.

Furthermore, if the Scriptures are sufficient to thoroughly equip us, then nothing more is needed. Thus no Calvinism or Catechisms for Protestants nor Papal Bulls or tradition for our Catholic brothers.

Now, let me be fair - the traditions taught by the apostles, as codified in the New Testament hold the authority of scripture.

I hope that explains my position as elegantly as you explained yours. God will not hide truth from those who seek diligently (see romans chapter 1 - 2).
