Sin is not a serious issue to most people.

Very true. Sometimes I even minimize it in my own life.

I remember the first time I saw Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ."

I thought about my own sins, and I wept.

We sometimes flirt with sin but God hates it.

Maybe god should lighten up.

When I was saved I was 19 and had been an atheist. The LORD Himself communed with me and walked me through my salvation experience. I always will remember when, as I was being saved, He rebuked me. He asked me whether I was a sinner, so that I would confess my sins. Being 19 I was rather flippant to our LORD. I laughed and told Him that of course he knew I was a sinner. He rebuked me, pushing back at me, He told me that His Son had died for my sins, and that my sins were not a laughing matter. I learned how very, very serious Jesus death for me was and that, yes, my sins are not in any way at all a laughing matter.
