Openly ‘Gay’ Catholic Deacon Under Review as San Francisco Archdiocese Considers Obscene Evidence

November 16, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – An openly “gay” ordained deacon in the Archdiocese of San Francisco is currently under “review” as Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone considers evidence demonstrating his flagrant departure from Catholic teaching. In June LifeSite provided evidence of Deacon Brian Bromberger’s explicit endorsement of homosexual behavior and public authorship of smutty material for a local “gay” newspaper to the Archdiocese.

Archdiocesan spokesman Mike Brown said in a recent interview “the Archbishop appreciates your bringing this matter to his attention,” but acknowledged, "We have been aware for some time of the deacon’s past public activities." He stated that the Archbishop is concerned about the matter and that actions are being taken to “counsel” Bromberger and regulate his “public” activities. He nevertheless currently retains faculties to act as a deacon of the Catholic Church from the Archdiocese.

Regarding the possibility of suspending Bromberger, Brown said that it was his impression that “all possibilities are on the table.”

Even for an ordinary parishioner this should be a matter for church discipline once it is clear that they are okay with their sin (you know: the you and another go to the guy, then if he doesn’t repent the elders of the congregation go type thing). With a “deacon” it should also merit immediate removal from his office.

Why is it this homosexual and child molesting stuff comes from primarily the Catholics? Is it a fact, or just extra reporting by the media maybe because they hate Catholics?

Archbishop Cordileone is a stalwart ecclesial conservative. I believe he will do the right thing. He may step it through some measure of due process, but this guy’s days as a deacon are most likely numbered.

Reporting. The Anglican Church (Episcopalian in the US) has a full ration of these perverts as well, maybe even more. Then there is the Jimmy Swaggart/ Jim Bakker brand of Protestantism just for a change of pace.

It’s because the Catholic Church has permitted homosexuals to be in the Priesthood under the premise that these people can control their urge to bugger boys. You can’t invite a viper into your house and expect that it won’t attack defenceless children. At one point I would have said the Church leadership was naive, but there is no longer any excuse to permit any homosexual into any leadership position in the Church. Sadly, Pope Francis is making things worse.

A report from a Catholic defending, or at least attempting to minimize, this problem is your source??? Gotta do better than that.

So you’re like those snowflakes who only accept fake news sources like the NY Slimes?

Disprove what it says, Skippy, otherwise slink away like the vapid airhead that you are.

Skippy? What are you....a 4th grader?

Give me an unbiased source and not a pro-Catholic site. The failure to deal with the issue is what has ya'll in the place you're in now.

At least Swaggart and Bakker were dealt with. Sadly though, Bakker is back on TV.

When Benedict was pope he was doing the Lenten Stations of the Cross, at I think the Coliseum in Rome, when he sort of physically collapsed as if he were clutching his chest. He complained bitterly about all the pedophile priests. With what all he and JPII had accomplished in their collective papal terms, the Catechism, a vast repair of the Church, the many good bishops put into place, the many insightful encyclicals - the realization of the depth of evil in some men was too much for him.
