Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Ark of the Covenant, The Tabernacle, and The Temple

Exodus 37

The Ark

37 Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood—two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high.[a] 2 He overlaid it with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold molding around it. 3 He cast four gold rings for it and fastened them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other. 4 Then he made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. 5 And he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it.

6 He made the atonement cover of pure gold—two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. 7 Then he made two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. 8 He made one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; at the two ends he made them of one piece with the cover. 9 The cherubim had their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim faced each other, looking toward the cover.

The Table

10 They[b] made the table of acacia wood—two cubits long, a cubit wide and a cubit and a half high.[c] 11 Then they overlaid it with pure gold and made a gold molding around it. 12 They also made around it a rim a handbreadth[d] wide and put a gold molding on the rim. 13 They cast four gold rings for the table and fastened them to the four corners, where the four legs were. 14 The rings were put close to the rim to hold the poles used in carrying the table. 15 The poles for carrying the table were made of acacia wood and were overlaid with gold. 16 And they made from pure gold the articles for the table—its plates and dishes and bowls and its pitchers for the pouring out of drink offerings.

The Lampstand

17 They made the lampstand of pure gold. They hammered out its base and shaft, and made its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them. 18 Six branches extended from the sides of the lampstand—three on one side and three on the other. 19 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms were on one branch, three on the next branch and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. 20 And on the lampstand were four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms. 21 One bud was under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair—six branches in all. 22 The buds and the branches were all of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.

23 They made its seven lamps, as well as its wick trimmers and trays, of pure gold. 24 They made the lampstand and all its accessories from one talent[e] of pure gold.

The Altar of Incense

25 They made the altar of incense out of acacia wood. It was square, a cubit long and a cubit wide and two cubits high[f]—its horns of one piece with it. 26 They overlaid the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and made a gold molding around it. 27 They made two gold rings below the molding—two on each of the opposite sides—to hold the poles used to carry it. 28 They made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.

29 They also made the sacred anointing oil and the pure, fragrant incense—the work of a perfumer.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today, I have three little stories to tell, and they all have the same theme which relates to today's Scripture portion.

1. The huge, beautiful clay pots were very low in price at the yard sale, and would make perfect features for the front walkway. Some gravel for the bottom, potting soil, and some palms, and VOILA! Instant Landscaping! The intricate glazed designs on the huge pots complimented the Spanish-Style stucco facade of the house, and was a lovely aesthetic upgrade. But, alas, the palms died, and so did everything else that was planted in the pots. They had no holes in the bottom, so the water that went in could not come out. The potting mixture soon became stale and poisoned anything that was planted in it.

2. The Dead Sea in Israelis fed by the Jordan River, which also feeds the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret) far to the North. Unlike the Galilee, however, the Dead Sea has no southern outlet for the water to pass through to somewhere else. hence, the water that goes in, does not go out, but sits there, evaporates, and leaves behind a salty, poisonous soup.

3. My sister bought a house that adjoined her property, because the reclusive man who was building it was so negative to his neighbors that his wife nearly died of loneliness. During a particularly harsh winter, when all the neighbors helped each other out, the man stood aloof from all around him, adding to the wife's isolation. They moved out, selling the property "AS IS" at a considerable bargain. When my sister and her husband obtained the property, they found the walls lined with bookshelves, full to bursting with RELIGIOUS Books.

The theme of these three stories (all true!) is the same. In the first chapter of the Epistle of James, we are told

"22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

The Pot, the Dead Sea, and the Recluse all were receivers, but none were channels for the blessings they received.

Now, you may think that Today's passage from Exodus (and ones to follow,) are merely repeats of the previous one. Here we see the Ark, The Tabernacle, and the Furnishings mentioned AGAIN in detail. What happened? Did the pages in my Bible get mixed up or duplicated?

On closer examination we see that the previous mention of these items were the instructions and patterns for these sacred items. Now we are reading of the construction and production of these items, in obedience to God's Word. It is, Indeed, Being "doers of the word, and not hearers only".

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

That’s an excellent analogy, thanks.

Shelves of religious books... hmmm, sounds like more than just a few Bibles and lexicons. All those teachings, yet the place was veritable dead zone.

Perhaps he was feeding on [religious] bread made without salt.

Matthew 5

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The role of salt in bread-making:

http://www.kingarthurflour.com/professional/salt.html

NaCl, ionic bonds, covenant of salt, house of bread (Bethlehem).

The Galilee verses the Dead Sea (literally the sea of salt),

There must be a riddle in here as far as living (running, flowing) water:

James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
James 3:12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? ***so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh***.

Well actually, tears are very productive (healing, restorative) and very much alive (they move, flow).

The wells of the eyes produce salt water that *is* for the healing of the nations. Same for work (perspiration, exertion) that is not any work at all if it is love.

Interesting factoid:

Sodium Chloride solubility: 358 g/l at 20 °C (source: Material Safety Data Sheet)

(358 = Mashiach)

>>>They had no holes in the bottom, so the water that went in ***could not come out***. The potting mixture soon became stale and poisoned anything that was planted in it.<<<

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

This ties in:

>>>By elevating one’s thought and speech and translating them into action, one reveals the yechidah, the fifth level and spark of Mashiach within his soul, and this will bring us to the ultimate Redemption.<<<

Of course, good deeds are fine in and of themselves, but are not enough to save us.

The good deeds emanate from the Spirit of God within us, and that happens by His Grace.

The two go together, but the order is important.

Which is why it’s not work if it is love. :)

One people, one heart. While on the subject of the tears, I just noticed that the word for nation (people), am - spelled ayin mem - is comprised of the letters that mean eye/well/fountain, and water.

“The two go together, but the order is important.”

Excellent. I never know in what direction a study will go.

And I had forgotten to post that the word for tear (dim'ah, דמעה) includes those same letters. Reverse order.

I was reminded of the concept of names connected with souls, as within the word soul (neshama, נשמה) is the word name (shem, שם).

Eyes are the windows to the soul, and light is reflected/contained in them. Like the moon.

See, it goes on because the same letter pair (עם)shows up as the outer letters in the word eyes (עינים).

And then by typing that out I see that the inner letters within the word "eyes" total 70, as in 70 souls.

I am aware that the modern spelling is typically עיניים, but I think that is for a dual form for a pair of eyes verses any number of eyes. Details are important.

It's not just any letter combination of 70 [souls] within the nation (am) of Israel that fills the word "eyes" (or rather am, people), but the image they form:

יני

It's a face - two eyes and a nose. Bookended by the letters that spell people, an eye/well/fountain, and water.

I love Hebrew. It's absolutely amazing what eyes can reveal!

Be funny if some member of the Peanut Gallery wished to point out that the letter yud is a hand, not an eye. It would only mean that hand-eye coordination is lacking in some folks, compromising their ability to grasp. ;)

Sunday must be Punday. I am easily entertained.

Oh wait, there's other data coming to mind here:

The 210 years in Egypt are counted from the time Jacob went down to Egypt with 70 souls. The full spelling of am (עם) is ayin (עין) + mem (מם), 130 + 80, which equals 210.

Jacob came to Pharaoh when he was 130.
Moses came to Pharaoh when he was 80 (letter mem = water).

So there are the "bookends" of the 210 years. And as far as names are concerned,

Exo 2:10

And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son; And she called his name Moses; and she said, Because I drew him out of the water:

I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me. (John 17:23 AMP)

Father, we pray this for allthe believers in Israel.
