The “Fisherman “ wants his shoes back.
Your apostasy is trying to have Jesus without Mary, which ultimately gives you a Jesus who is not actually and authentically human, as well as actually and authentically divine. It’s an old heresy, called Docetism. Look it up.
Excellent essay. Regrettably, you have to make stuff like this a Catholic caucus to keep out the rude people.
No one is denying the virgin birth of Jesus.
What Christianity teaches is that salvation is only through Jesus. We do not need to go through Mary for any aspect of our salvation, prayer life, etc.
The RCC teaching that one must be devoted to the "immaculate heart of Mary" is a false teaching. It is n part based on an incorrect rendering of Gen 3:15 in the Vulgate which has shaped so much of RCC theology on Mary.
From the BlogSpot of the writer:
Just as Christ was crucified and buried 2000 years ago, so too His Body, the Church, will be crucified and buried in this period of the great tribulation (Mt 24:21). Only after this, when it seems that the Church is totally dead and buried, when Satan and his very numerous followers seem to have total victory, then the Woman clothed with the sun (Rev 12:1) will crush the head of the great red dragon (Rev 12:3), the ancient serpent (Gen 3:15), and the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph (Fatima, 1917) and there will be the Resurrection of Jesus with His Body, the purified Church!http://josephdwight.blogspot.com/
A careful reading of Revelation tells us it is Jesus who defeats Satan...not Mary.
19And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Rev 19:19 NASB
7When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, 8and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. 9And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Rev 20:7-10 NASB
There is no mention of Mary as she is depicted in Roman Catholicism in Heaven. She is not the Queen...she is not depicted at the right hand of Christ. All of the glory, honor and praise will be directed to God and the Lamb....none will be directed to Mary, nor should any ever be directed to Mary as taught in Roman Catholicism.
1Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; 4they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. 5And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever. Rev 22:1-5 NASB
And again Roman Catholicism cannot stand the light of scrutiny.
If you believe that Jesus took on a human nature, you already believe that your salvation came through Mary.
Since you deny one, you necessarily deny the other.
The "RCC" has no such teaching as a doctrine of the faith. The "Sacred Heart of Mary" devotion is just that, a devotion. A spiritual exercise. Not an infallible doctrine.
Thank you for demonstrating my point.
That is why I support the “caucus” threads because faith issues can posted in peace.
I do see scriptures cited. Why make such a BIG DEAL about it?
Since you deny one, you necessarily deny the other.
Your position equates Mary and Jesus on an equal footing.
No one has a problem with the virgin birth as noted before.
What the Catholic forgets is that the NT accords salvation as coming through Christ and Christ only. He died on the Cross for our sins. No one else.
Christianity can with stand the light of scrutiny. I guess Roman Catholicism cannot.
Because the context matters.
Don’t waste your time with these nut cases. Remember the sayings about pearls before swine, wrestling with a pig, etc.
As I’ve noted several times before (and as a Catholic I take no pleasure in it), the problem with the person currently residing in the Vatican is that he’s NOT CATHOLIC.
His religion is Leftism. Period.
Where he can make the two (seem to) intersect then he “plays Pope” for awhile. But make no mistake about what his true “religion” really is - leftism.
Proving my point again that the Roman Catholic is the first to go personal when the argument is against them.
It's a time honored tactic the Left uses all the time.
Catholics can’t have these discussions in open threads because you keep bringing context and Scripture into it. WWJD? Would He pray to Mom? Finger his rosary beads? Buy an indulgence? Jesus is our Example. He is not depicted in the Bible, after he is grown, as a small child. He is portrayed as a victorious Warrior that defeats Satan.
He is the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS!
