Just curious why you thought it was necessary or appropriate to make that comment. There was a name for people like you in Jesus’s time and it wasn’t “disciple.” It was Pharisee. Thanks for laying down the law.
“Just curious why you thought it was necessary or appropriate to make that comment.”
Commenting on “open”
Threads is never necessary for anyone, including your own comment.
Discussion on a discussion thread is always appropriate.
“There was a name for people like you in Jesuss time and it wasnt disciple. It was Pharisee. Thanks for laying down the law.”
Actually, I’m opposing legalism and tradition and supporting grace - as the Gospel does. Pharisees favored human traditions and law, do you have things backwards.
If people hate Catholicism, they should their own threads. Just MHO. I would not got to a thread of religious discussion that I thought was evil and toss stink bombs. I’d let it go.
“f people hate Catholicism, they should their own threads. Just MHO.”
Disagreeing and hating are two different things. Do not be a mind-reader. It is prohibited on the Religion forum.
“I would not got to a thread of religious discussion that I thought was evil and toss stink bombs. Id let it go.”
It is your right to use perjorative language to wrongly categorize my comments and your right to participate on threads you choose. Clearly you are new to open Religion Forum threads!
Christ managed to go where there was evil and expose it - as did Peter and Paul.
“You are quick to mock things that you don’t understand - these are neither pagan traditions, nor magical talismans that assure eternal life - they are simply sacramentals.”
I did not mock.
I correctly stated what they are.
This story makes my day. I’m happy he was not harmed.
I hope others try this and do it his way, easy going, not in your face. Not lecturing that everyone in sight is already damned; the approach no one wants when your mind is elsewhere.
Next time though, it would be wise to travel with one or two people ready to step in and help him if somebody gets too aggressive.
If “Jenuwine” is not is real name, it’s a great name for a Catholic Priest. Sounds like “Genuine”.
My guess is there are many young people out there who would be open to becoming Christian, but don’t know how to get started, since they grew up largely unchurched, and had parents who didn’t prioritize it.
.
Bringing pagan traditions of men to pagans; how unique.
.
“your opinion. Have a pleasant day...”
It is also the opinion of The Catholic Encyclopedia.
And you as well
Care to translate that into English?
If that did not appear to be written English language, to you-- try taking it to google translate.
If you do not know about the variety of things mentioned in background, I'm not going to explain them all. Specially not in answer to a question worded as you chose to word it.
Besides, it would take too long, and I have better things to do.
Try figuring it out from whatever clues you could see? Though I confess I was guessing about Jenuwine being sent to Napa in the first place, in part, at least(?), due to his name.
Lord Jesus Christ, bless richly Thy warrior Priest David.
Bless also those who spoke to him.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
On this Pentecost Sunday eve, to see what this priest is doing, I say God Bless him.
That is what we are called to, witness for both Christ and the Gospel.
Doing as Christ commanded in Mathew 28.
God bless this man. If anything he did that day helped people turn to Jesus Christ, even by beginning to question and seek him with all the things the priest handed out to them, it will have been well worth it.
Probably the so appropriate yet nondescript caricature of the Father on his sign that made the trending on Reedit.
.
Yeshua commanded no one to impart pagan rites to anyone.
.
.
The things the “priest” handed out lead away from Yeshua’s narrow path.
.
“Doing as Christ commanded in Mathew 28.”
Yeah, but Christ never mentioned sitting on a corner handing out beads and idols as the Great Commission.
There’s that.
If any of those prayer cards had prayers to Jesus, then that’s good.
