God bless!

I hope that we can slowly and carefully lay out the ground for our conviction . . . line upon line, precept upon precept. I don’t want to create arguments but in any endeavor to present biblical convictions - Sanballat and Tobias will no doubt show up to help us out (that is, straighten us out).

Either we have a final authority or we don’t. If we don’t then all the other religions are just as valid as Bible believers’ stand. However, we may rejoice greatly that we can proclaim with confidence and conviction, “Thus saith the LORD!”

Some beginning musings on the book, “Final Authority”

If anyone would like to go on our journey through the book please send me a Freepmail or request to be added to our ping list.

FOREWORD

“Thy word is true from the beginning; and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever” (Psalm 119:160).

Would we rob Christ of His Deity? Of course, we can not . . . but that does not negate the attempt to do so through versions of the Bible that omit verses, or change the meaning of verses, that deal with the very subject so that Christ is obliterated . . . at least in their minds - but the sad truth is that readers of these perverted bibles are denied the ability to make up their own minds from the truth of God’s Word.

What will be the eternal penalty to those that “changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen” (Romans 1:25).

So, the readers of these modern bibles are left with the “impression that Jesus was just another good man with a new philosophy.”

If you are listening to the audiobook (links above), Chapter One begins at 11:49 and these words are given to ponder:

“To employ soft words and honeyed phrases in discussing questions of everlasting importance; to deal with errors that strike at the foundations of all human hope as if they were harmless and venial mistakes; to bless where God disapproves, and to make apologies where He calls us to stand up like men and assert, though it may be the aptest method of securing popular applause in a sophisticated age, is cruelty to man and treachery to Heaven. Those who on such subjects attach more importance to the rules of courtesy than they do to the measures of truth do not defend the citadel, but betray it into the hands of its enemies. Love for Christ, and for the souls for whom He died, will be the exact measure of our zeal in exposing the dangers by which men’s souls are ensnared.” - Thornwell

Not many folks know where and why these other translations came into existence, and people know even less about the men who wrote them.

Jack Hyles, the pastor of the author wrote:

“Years ago I had a secretary who took dictation from me. When the first letters were given me to sign, I noticed that they were not exactly the same words that I dictated. I called her to my office to ask why. She informed me that she had changed my words a ‘little’ so they could be more easily understood. I informed her that she was ‘fired.’ Every church in America should do the same to every pastor who changes the words so they will be more easily understood and to every theologian who does the same.”

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)

Final Authority has been written to help dispel this confusion by presenting a logical, documented argument for the King James Bible as being the true Word of God for English-speaking people.

However, because of the multi-faceted nature of the issue, certain portions of this book may appear a bit technical at times. It is the prayer of the author that the reader will be faithful to the challenge, for difficult problems require diligent study. Questions about the Bible are of ETERNAL consequence and should never be considered in a casual manner.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, right dividing the word of truth” (II Timothy 2:15).

In 1881, the Anglican committee for revision published its Revised New Testament, which was opposed by Dean John William Burgon (1813-1888), the outstanding conservative scholar within the Church of England. Though not successful at the time, he envisioned a future return to the traditional text.

“Three and a half years ago (this was written in 1890) I was in Dean Burgon’s study at Chichester. It was midnight, dark and cold without; he had just extinguished the lights, and it was dark and getting cold within. We mounted the stairs to retire to rest, and his last words of the night have often rung in my ears since: ‘ As surely as it is dark now, and as certainly as the sun will rise tomorrow morning, so surely will the traditional text be vindicated and the views I have striven to express be accepted. I may not live to see it. Most likely I shall not. But it will be done.” – Herman Hoskier

In 1979, the editors of the liberal Nestles-Aland Greek text reversed an eight-year preference for Drs. Brooke Foss Westcott (1825-1901) and Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828-1892), with a token insertion of 467 Receptus readings into their 27th edition.

The following reaction is typical of the current ever-increasing barrage of modern English revisions by self-styled “Christian scholars”

“Overreaction to translations by cults seeking to prop up their heresies with an aura of authority, along with the translations prepared by liberals which leap at every opportunity to play down the deity of Jesus Christ, plus numerous paraphrases masquerading as translations, caused some untrained fundamentalists, most among the laity, to claim verbal inspiration for the King James Version, while some of the more scholarly ones were satisfied to insist that only the “textus receptus” was a reliable Greek test” – Robert Sumner.

This volume has been designed to equip the sincere Christian (“untrained fundamentalist”) with a systematic work of doctrine, history and manuscript evidences to enhance his “new look at the old Book.”

You will be rewarded by the study.

Some wonder about the title, “Final Authority” . . . but really, that is us. It is we who decide whether by faith we are going to acknowledge that God is able to preserve His perfect Word to the English speaking people in the King James Bible - or bow to unbelievers like Westcott and Hort who hated the Bible, embraced evolution - and spiritism.

Presently I am waiting on the author of the book to see what freedom he will allow us beyond “fair use.”

I have met the man. He is one of the good ones. The words "final authority" is in reference to the King James Bible. I have never heard of the man minding if you quote from what he has written and properly attribute it.

He has defended the word when so many in the IFB movement have abandoned it for the "critical text".

Regards.

I do believe that you are correct, sir. I believe he even mentioned it once in one of his sermons that he is interested in the truth getting out then in book sales - which is why he posted the entire book in an audiobook format to be downloaded freely by whomsoever will.

Thanks for the reminder!

>>>He has defended the word when so many in the IFB movement have abandoned it for the “critical text”.<<<

A very sad, yet predictable fact, in light of our Laodicean age.
