In unusual omission, no Trump-pope meeting planned during Italy G-7

In what would be a highly unusual omission, President Trump has not asked to meet Pope Francis during the president’s visit to Italy next month for the Group of Seven summit, sources said.

Trump, who Francis suggested was “not Christian” if he wanted a wall on the Mexican border, is due in Sicily on May 26-27 for a meeting of the heads of the world’s richest nations.

The two men have diametrically opposing positions on immigration, refugees, climate change and unbridled capitalism. Trump called the pope’s criticism of his plan to build the Mexico wall “disgraceful.”

Why bother with the Anti-Pope? He would just hear a sermon about why the USA should accept everyone who wants to come here.

What is so “highly unusual” here?

Trump is meeting with world leaders at the G-7. He has no time to chit-chat with some kook in a big silly hat.

I’m glad. Looks like he’s been warned to stay away.

Maybe the president has been reading the Francis threads here.

The current pope is a fraud. The sooner he is gone, the better.

Good. Why should he meet with the Pope who tried to influence our elections for Hillary and who sounds more like a lefty politician than head of the Catholic church?

Why would Trump want to meet with an apostate who’s working for the other side?

“In what would be a highly unusual omission, President Trump has not asked to meet Pope Francis during the president’s visit to Italy next month”

Why is this supposedly “highly unusual”?

The president should only meet with the Pope if there is something important to discuss or review. President Reagan’s meetings with John Paul II were historically important and very valuable.

There is absolutely nothing of value to be gained in meeting with Pope Francis.

I find it very interesting that Cardinal Burke has requested an audience with Pope Francis and has yet to receive a response from His Pompousness; yet according to this article: “Vatican officials have indicated that if the White House wants to squeeze in a meeting with the pope on Trump’s schedule in Europe, they will try to oblige.”

It’s obvious that His Pompousness is more interested in global warming and illegal invasion than he is in sexual morality, heresy, blasphemy of the Blessed Sacrament and the salvation of souls.

F the commie pope. He should either tear down the Vatican wall, or apologize to Trump.

It is highly unusual for recent US Presidents who on the their first visit to Rome, usually meet with both the Italian head of state and the Vatican head of state. It is a courtesy and a photo op for political reasons given the tens of millions of Catholic voters in the US.

That said, Pope Francis has shown his utter contempt for Trump during the primaries, the presidential campaign, and after he was inaugurated. He made no secret as to who is for. He said Trump was not a Christian; he has decried the border wall; the immigration ban; etc

But Francis, who tweets frequently and has over 10 million followers, has actually been subtly trolling Trump since the inauguration. While he has never mentioned the president by name on social media, he has shared several messages which are hard not to read as papal subtweets of the Commander in Chief.

Trump said Francis publicly questioned his faith with a statement that said building walls "is not Christian."

“For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful. I'm proud to be a Christian and as president, I will not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened, unlike what is happening now with our current president," he said.

“No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion and faith.”

Good for Trump for not meeting with someone who has meddled in our elections.

Francis and his hangers on would be unable to resist using any such meeting as an opportunity to criticize and disrespect Trump and the US.

Why would President Trump want to meet this fake pope? I do not see any reason for them to meet.
