Pope Francis is going to “wait and see” before judging President Trump, according to reports. That’s comforting, I guess.
Readers might recall a previous post of mine in which a story was highlighted about how the Vatican reacted to Trump’s victory: a ‘lot of incomprehension’ and ‘bitter shock,’ viewing the United States as ‘angry and radicalized.’
Could there have been an alliance of sorts between the Holy See and Democrats?
From The Remnant Catholic newspaper:
Specifically, we have reason to believe that a Vatican ‘regime change’ was engineered by the Obama administration.
We were alarmed to discover that, during the third year of the first term of the Obama administration your previous opponent, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and other government officials with whom she associated, proposed a Catholic ‘revolution’ in which the final demise of what was left of the Catholic Church in America would be realized.
Approximately a year after this email discussion, which was never intended to be made public, we find that Pope Benedict XVI abdicated under highly unusual circumstances and was replaced by a pope whose apparent mission is to provide a spiritual component to the radical ideological agenda of the international left….
During the 2016 presidential campaign we were astonished to witness Pope Francis actively campaigning against your proposed policies concerning the securing of our borders, and even going so far as to suggest that you are not a Christian. We appreciated your prompt and pointed response to this disgraceful accusation….
With all of this in mind, and wishing the best for our country as well as for Catholics worldwide, we believe it to be the responsibility of loyal and informed US Catholics to petition you to authorize an investigation into the following questions:

This is one of several insightful questions raised. As Matt Abbott comments
A number of years ago, I probably would have dismissed the above material as malarkey. Yet given the current state of affairs in the church and in the world, I believe it should be taken seriously. Pope Benedict XVIs perplexing resignation has been disastrous for Catholic orthodoxy, much as Obamas presidency was disastrous for America.
FR post of the Remnant article referenced herein:
Although the stars would align in things political with things religious were there to be a connection between the change of pontiffs and the machinations of the global left, I still place it in the tin foil hat category without specific evidence.
The fact of the matter is, that there is a cohort of aging (liberal, many homosexually oriented) clerics whose exuberance at what they understood to be the changes of Vat II never took hold as they thought they would (the often cited “spirit” of the Council). They lost ground with the long-lived JPII and Benedict gave the prospect that they would go to their graves without seeing the fruits of their revolution. My belief is that the prospect of this, made even these (for the most part) decent (albeit incorrect) men, engage their worse natures and collaborate to bring Benedict down using whatever threats and pressure they could - just so they could finally see the change before going to the grave. Unfortunately, their kingdoms are too much of this world - and therefore their own mortality influences their better judgement.
Speaking of the Pope, has it not been a tradition of US Presidents to pay a visit? I wonder if President Trump will keep that tradition?
My guess is he’s probably not in any hurry to meet the Pope. As we know, the President doesn’t take kindly to criticism, and the Pope has already indirectly dissed him twice (i.e, the wall not being Christian and the need to avoid Hitler like populist saviors).
Yes. It was a "now or never" kind of thing. They could not wait for God to call Benedict home because, in short, they had at that moment the votes to put their man on the throne.
Now, they know their time is short and Francis is on an unholy tear to destroy the faith of millions. The Church is on its way to being just the largest social services provider on the planet . . . and it won't be pushing religion on anyone . . . just ask the Knights of Malta.
This is a good article. I too, a few years ago, would have thought this was conspiracy theory gone even madder than usual, but now...I’m not so sure.
