Calvary Baptist Church, a progressive Baptist landmark in the heart of downtown Washington, has named a gay couple as co-pastors.
Sally Sarratt and Maria Swearingen were presented to the congregation during worship services Jan. 8 and are set to begin their new jobs Feb. 26.
A spokeswoman for the congregation said she didn’t know whether a gay couple leading a church was a first for Baptists.
“We look for the best people in the world and that’s who they were,” said Carol Blythe. “We’re very excited.”
The 155-year-old church severed ties with the Southern Baptist Convention in 2012: It was at loggerheads with the group on several issues, including the SBC’s stance against homosexuality. Calvary Baptist still affiliates with American Baptist Churches USA.

There’s no delusion like self-delusion. This “church” put people in charge that God said are going to hell. That’s a special kind of insane.
These "pastors" are not Christians, but merely fifth columnists. What I wonder is why anyone would choose to attend services at a "church" that is no different from the secular world. One may as well go to one's favorite gay bar as a gay "church".

Before I was Orthodox I would staunchly defend the “right” of women to be Ordained.
For, that I have repented, been exorcised, and now have received Illumination.

HOW IN THE WORLD can ANYONE with a brain in his head be a practicing HOMOSEXUAL and a Christian at the same time?
It’s not much different than in Paul’s time when he warned against the false teachers of that period- and encouraged true churches to stay the course and not give in to the abominations that were being preached- I’m not sure if homosexuality was rampant during that time in the false churches- but I believe they did preach about loose sexual morals claiming that they couldn’t lose their salvation- Sadly they were likely never saved- and neither are these two lesbians today- What they are committing is a direct spit in the face to God- they have read His word and know that He condemns homosexuality in the strongest sense and they don’t care and shake their fists in His face and declare that they are His children anyways- They’ve got a rude awakening coming at judgment day

Calvary Baptist still affiliates with American Baptist Churches USA. (Yes Lauren, this sad church is unsurprisingly affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA. Sadly, that "Baptist" convention is on the same road to destruction. The Lord has warned us all of his expectations for his creation(s).
If you care for these two Lauren, Pray for them to repent their sins.
I’ve known a few and have listened to them. They are fine people. BUT!!!! how can you say you Love Jesus and still practice homosexuality. Yes, we must Love them as Christ loved us. But surely we should be leading “them” to him instead of being lead.
This is not about “them” but about “us” and how far we are prepared to depart from the simple Word of Christ.
