…I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.(Psalm 2:7-9)
In its original context Psalm 2 is a coronation psalm. Israel is the Son of God, therefore the King of Israel, who is the embodiment of Israel, is a Son of God. God has appointed the King, and will be with Him in a special way, guiding him, helping and correcting him where necessary.. God told David through the prophet,
“I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:”( 2 Samuel 7:14)
The Day of David’s coronation and Anointing was the Day that God begot him as a Son, And gave him the prophetic charge, to ask His Father for the nations. It was David’s destiny to take the borders of Israel to the farthest extent. God had promised all of the Land between the River of Egypt to the Euphrates…
On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, 21 Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.” (Genesis 15:18)
But David the King and Messiah of Israel, is but a foreshadow of the heavenly ‘Son of David”, the true Son of God, whose destiny is to bring in the Everlasting Rule of God to the whole earth. As the Lord commissioned David “to rule with a rod of iron, subduing the nations” to submit to his rule, so is the Messiah Jesus coming to judge the world in righteousness. This is what the Kings of the earth stumble over.
The day that God raised Jesus from the dead was the day that God “begot” Jesus in the sense that Psalm 2 proclaims, according to the apostle Paul,
And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.(Acts of the Apostles 13:32-33)
There will only be one “new World order”for this world, that is the Kingdom of God, inaugurated at the bodily return of Jesus Christ. The pretender “Kings of the earth and their rulers” will be coming out of the woodwork to resist the God appointed True King, openly. That is the meaning of what is happening today.
The nations will come into the possession of the Jewish Messiah, “the government of the whole earth will be upon his shoulders”, as Isaiah predicted. The center of power in the whole earth will be a renewed Jerusalem, and the law of the land will be “the knowledge of God”.
When Daniel saw a vision of the nations of the world, they were pictured as ravenous beasts, blood thirsty and fierce, trampling and consuming people without mercy. But the culmination of human history will be the Government of the Son of God, who also happens to be the ‘Son of Man’.Final a rule that is just and humane. Daniel saw the investiture of the ‘Son of man”,
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.(Daniel 7:13-14)Neither Moslems or Atheists will have the last word, the great rebellion of man comes to it’s head and then collapses. The Stone made without hands is thrown at the giant statue of proud humanistic man, and smashes it into poweder, and out of the stone grows a Kingdom which will never pass away!
We long for the day, We would hasten it if at all possible, The Son of God, who is the true King of Israel, also called the root of David as well as his Son, cannot come quickly enough as far as we are concerned. O Come quickly Lord Jesus!
