Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. (Isaiah 40:21-24)

Father in heaven, we come to You with gratitude for Your providence over our lives and all the world.

Lord, we pray that You will guide and bless our military’s operations throughout the world, and protect those who carry them out.

As Election Day approaches, Father, we ask You to guide Americans in every vote cast, for every race and every referendum. Help Your people, especially, to make discerning choices.

O God, You sit enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. You stretch out the heavens like a canopy, and spread them out like a tent to live in. Before You, who made earth and heaven, the nations are a drop in a bucket and the peoples are dust on the scales. You bring princes to naught and reduce the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than You blow on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. But You live forever, unwearied and unchanging, and You are King of kings and Lord of lords. We trust in You, our eternal God, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
