Our Last Minute God
The Word on the Word ^

Posted on 11/03/2016 4:47:02 PM PDT by GoldenState_Rose

As we review several examples of God's delayed timing, the reason for it becomes abundantly clear.

Remember Abraham and Isaac? God waited until Abraham's knife was raised and ready to plunge into Isaac before He stopped it. When Moses and the Hebrews left Egypt, God waited until Pharaoh and his army were right behind them to part the waters of the Red Sea. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were condemned to the furnace, God waited until they were cast in to deliver them from the flames. When Daniel was sentenced to the lion's den, God waited until he was in the pit to close the lions' mouths. When Samson was engaged in continual battle with the Philistines, God waited until he was bound with his eyes gouged out to defeat them.

The life of Jesus, Himself, was no different. From infancy through adulthood, God delivered His Son from death right before His would-be murderers arrived, until His appointed time.

One common denominator exists for every one of these examples and the many more that fill Scripture: God has to wait until the last possible moment in order to be glorified and in order for us to learn to depend on Him.

I stopped at the first sentence because my understanding is God’s timing is perfect.

Our anticipation or expectation is out of sync with God’s timing.

You are technically correct.

Speaking to that unavoidable out of syncness, however, is compassion. Also, it is my experience that detachment brings ferocious tests. Its better to remain humble, than claim detachment prematurely.

That is what this election is about. Is there enough good people left in America ?

I have been praying that God reveals the truth to the American people and then let them choose. If Hillary wins America gets the consequences. If Trump wins then we have taken the 2nd chance that God has offered us.

I don’t think the article suggests that God’s timing isn’t perfect. Just that we need patience and to trust Him.

In fact the last sentence in the article goes like this: “...and place your full trust completely in the hands of the perfect Timekeeper.”

oops I meant *more* last minute miracles. Not most.

PATIENCE not my strong suit when it comes to politics, just saying, so I needed this reminder. :)

1. I stopped at the first sentence because my understanding is God’s timing is perfect.
2.Our anticipation or expectation is out of sync with God’s timing.

1. Ditto.
2. Since God always was, is and always will be...and He "invented" time, we have NO IDEA if our anticipation or expectation is out of sync with His. I would HOPE that one expectation would be the same: that I loved Him and wanted to spend eternity with Him in heaven.

It’s not a question of HIS timing.

Yep, that’s the problem with stopping at the first seeming offense. You never get the big picture.

The word on the Word is excerpted? Word has it that God does not excerpt His Word. Why would you hide His Word under a bushel? Unless you first want a few words from your sponsors.

That's how I see it.

Actually, I'm of the opinion that if Hillary wins, the countdown for the end times begins in earnest.

The countdown for the end times started when Jesus first mentioned it just like the countdown for your death started at your birth.

Trump might not win, legitimately or illegitimately, but that's orthogonal to getting the proper people in authority/power — I can easily imagine a scenario where Trump wins but does not clear out the corruption to the needed extent, conversely I can imagine a scenario where a Trump loss (due to obvious rigging and foul play) would be the impetus for the People to "spit on their hands" and do the housecleaning themselves.

So, no, I don't pray Trump wins — I instead pray that we-as-a-country will put into those positions of authority/power those who will do Justly, love mercy, and walk humbly w/ God IOW, I don't want one Godly man in one office, I want a whole tidal-wave of them to sweep into ALL the offices.

The word on the Word is excerpted? Word has it that God does not excerpt His Word.

Sure He does, and in person:

Teaching about Divorce
Matt 19:1-13

When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. Large crowds followed him, and he cured them there.

Some Pharisees came to him, and to test him they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?”

He answered, “Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?”

He said to them, “It was because you were so hard-hearted that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another commits adultery.”

His disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”

But he said to them, “Not everyone can accept this teaching, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.”
