Pope To Commission Study To Find More Ways He Can Confuse People
May 12, 2016 by Admin
Pope Francis said today that he would set up a commission to study whether or not he can find more ways to confuse and frustrate the living crap out of people, revealing an openness to re-examining the churchs long-held insistence on not speaking off-the-cuff.
His move was hailed as a breakthrough by those in the media who have clamored for years to be given more stuff to speculate on, and who cite research showing that a pope whose speeches were scripted and thought out produced nothing for the media to report on, and therefore, pointless.
But the idea will face stiff resistance from some who believe that finding out whether he can indeed find more ways to confuse people is the first step toward drinking during a General Audience, which recent popes have ruled out.
During a discussion at the Vatican on Thursday, which at one point touched on the fact that just saying that a completely absurd idea is a possibility just because youre put on the spot is in itself absurd, Francis was asked about the possibility of an official commission to study the issue. His response was, in essence, Why not?
Constituting an official commission that might study the question of how I can make the lives of Catholics defending the Church from misinformed Catholics annoying? Pope Francis said out loud. I believe yes. It would do good for the Church to clarify this point.
I accept, the pope said later. It seems useful to me to have a commission that would clarify whether all of my successors should also be obliged to speak without regard to already resolved matters.
Not funny anymore.
Pray for a new Pope. SOON.
I do, every day at least once.
The priests in my parish/parochial school, growing up, were all Jesuits. SJ as it were. They were some pretty sharp cookies and when we were real bad the nuns would dump us on them for rehabilitation.
Anyway when I heard the new Pope was a Jesuit I didn't understand why so many here were upset by the fact. It seems many of these guys are flat out Marxist and ready to undermine the basic tenets of the church.
I don't think the church will have a leg to stand on except in the third world with Francis running the show.
I miss Pius Xll, he looks like my grandfather Tomaso, from Naples.
send him back to Argentina
This imposter Pope was installed to destroy the Catholic Church.
Among the Jesuits, the saying is “Publish or parish.” The Jesuits in the parishes are not the high-flying academics. They are the humble ones, the Catholic ones, unless they are running one of the gay parishes in a big city.
It is no longer confusing. Ideology trumps faith for this Pope. Once you see him as a social justice warrior rather than a religious leader it all falls into place.
“Publish or Parish”. Good one.
Used to get a kick out of one priest who would occasionally have on his golf clothes. Myself and the boys would gawk and say “look! Fadda Obrien’s not wearing his Fadda clothes”. Very disquieting as we had been convinced of the near divinity of the parish priests....magic fingers as only they could touch the host(ah the 1950s-60s). The nuns told us of a martyr priest who had the fingers cut off on his communion hand by savages here in America back in the 15 or 1600s. He had to get special papal dispensation to use other fingers. Now they stick the host right in your hand.
Way too much change way too quickly.
If the Pope had a degree in economics or political science then fine. If not he should stick to the religion stuff.
Hi, I'm Jimmy Akin, and here's 10 things you need to know about Pope Francis' new efforts to cause confusion:
1) He's the pope, therefore he can never commit heresy even when he commits heresy.
2) He's the pope, therefore he's infallible even when he's fallible.
3) Not everything the pope says is doctrinal - especially when he changes doctrine.
4) The pope is not anti-Catholic - even when he spews anti-Catholic nonsense.
5) Nothing the pope says is nonsense - even when he spews nonsense.
6) The pope is not God - even though the pope really is God.
7) The pope is the most humblest person in the world - and he's very proud of that fact.
8) Jesus answers to the pope - even though the pope is Jesus.
9) The pope is not a communist - even though he thinks like them, speaks like them, sympathizes with them, befriends them, and obsessively advances their agenda.
10) The pope can do no wrong. Ever. And I don't just get paid a six figure income to say that. Okay. Maybe I do.......
That was Isaac Jogues. He went all the way back to France to get the next fingers consecrated.
The problem is not his lack of a degree. The problem is stupidity.
The man does get misquoted quite a bit, but he is just setting himself up for the press to make him look more foolish.
As opposed to the Church's teaching:
"6. ...or even the Roman Pontiff, prior to his promotion or his elevation as Cardinal or Roman Pontiff, has deviated from the Catholic Faith or fallen into some heresy:
(i) the promotion or elevation, even if it shall have been uncontested and by the unanimous assent of all the Cardinals, shall be null, void and worthless;"
