The only reason I can think of is the tradition of Amish being exempt from, for example, the social security system.

They have to draw the line somewhere, and if they exempt too many, it will de-fang Obamacare to a certain extent. Maybe they want to chip away at the church.

How did Catholic pharmacists dispensing birth control and other similar drugs turn out? I can't research everything, but it seems like the pharmacists were told not to by Benedict in 2007 but do as they choose.

If CONgress wanted to have some fun with this they could,
pass a law Mandating ALL Corporations List All the Laws they are exempt from and how much they spend on Lobbying annually, and require it to be on the LABEL of Every Product they Sell.
