I agree with cloudmountain insofar as knowing the Church will endure. Take a deep breath and let it go, let it go...
We all have to answer to God, even the Pope. And he might have a lot of dingy progressive inclinations, but even he can't drive the Church into the weeds.
God is in control.

He always was and always will be. I trust in Him.

Peter's Confession of Faith John 6: 68
Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go away also, do you?"
Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.

Peter said it for me.

I see this Pope in for no more than another at best. He will be 80 in December and I would not be surprised if he decides to step after that.

True.
Pope Benedict stepped down so the path opened up for more modern day popes to retire before they die in office.
Not a bad thing.

It’s about time they celebrated Blessed Saint Luther!

He's probably responsible for the loss of more souls that any other person in history.

Good place to be! The Greeks say that the further we stay away from hierarchs, the better, even though ultimately as the “Defenders of Orthodoxy” we, the Laity, can stymie their plans and even remove them in extreme cases. You guys don’t have that option so just staying away, living your lives in your parishes, listening to your spiritual fathers, is best for your theosis.
The sky, by the way, is not falling and the Latin Church will survive just fine.

The Orthodoxies ARE smaller and more intimate. I went to a Roman Catholic Mass in Greece some years ago. It was an intimate gathering. I think I was on Syros.

An old acquaintance of my mother's had us go to a Russian Orthodox service. Of course, THAT was 100% behind their screen and we didn't see a thing PLUS we had to stand the entire time. It was HOURS long...or just FELT that way.

I went to a Roman Catholic Mass in Belgrade and the ONLY words I understood were JИсус Христ Isus Hrist. The priest spotted this OBVIOUS American in the Church and kept an eye out for me. :o) That seemed a kindness on his part/

I felt very comfortable with all the services.

“The revisionist history Roman Catholics always ignore the fact that the church had already split 500 years before the Reformation.”

A schism is an internal split...all remain Catholic, the revolution, on the other hand tore people away from the true church into thousands of wannabees.

“He’s probably responsible for the loss of more souls that any other person in history.”

Back up your claim from God’s inspired Scriptures. If not, you’ve just written the equivalent of someone who does not know how to have eternal life.

It is not too late while you are alive to turn to Christ alone.

No, it really was hours! You’re lucky they didn’t make kneel on beans the whole time. Standing is easy!” The Russians are a tough bunch! We Greeks and the Arabs are the fun people of Orthodoxy!

Lol. I must admit that although I was very moved I wouldn't want to have to do that every Sunday.
I go to daily Mass, except for Saturdays, and WELCOME the soft kneelers. I guess I'm getting old.
There was a Church in the middle east somewhere, maybe it was even in Cairo. It had HARD, wooden kneelers. Owwww.

Are you familiar with:

“Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.”

There isn’t a person alive or dead who can keep another soul out of heaven. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

I just find it funny that the Pope and the Swedes are going to celebrate the Reformation together.

My people don’t like the Swedes, and don’t trust the Italians (we do like their food and wine a lot though). The statement my Pastor friend said was something like “What poker game did they lose for that to happen?”

We're not real keen on the Swedes either, but we do like the Italians. Back before the war, Mussolini (not Trump) used to say to the Greeks "Una Faccia Una Razza", One Face, One Race. It's pretty much true. The Southern Italians, especially the Sicilians, are genetic Greeks. Until a few hundred years ago, the whole area was called Magna Graeca! At any rate, maybe the Italians can teach the Swedes how to cook!
