“MORAL ABSOLUTES.”
Peter was married and Paul wasn’t which truth are you referring to?
Or the moral absolutes of transferring known child molesters around from place to place?
“there is NO final authority on morals like we have, the Church and Magesterium.”
I have the “ONLY” authority man needs and that is God the Father though Jesus Christ.
Sorry you man’s authority doesn’t mean nothing here or in Heaven.
“I accept the words of our Lord”
No you don’t, you accept the catechism. The Holy Bible and the catechism disagree and as a RC you always side with the catechism.
You say that the catechism is tradition, so the Jews have older tradition than you, but they didn’t accept Christ either. You are not Catholic, but a roman catholic counterfeit.
Catholics are not lost.
They follow Jesus who is “The Way, The Truth, and The Life.”
Why not ask the “despicable trolls” who keep posting intentionally provocative threads repeatedly...and who INVITE discussion in open RF threads?
I made some comments and asked some questions in my post # 27.
They were ignored and not answered.
Some were quite simple and you would think it would be possible for those that believe all that is in this article to answer the questions.
This article makes quite a few claims, but nothing to back it up.
And apparently no one affiliated with the belief system that is responsible for this article seems to be able to justify the text.
Not even a date for Augustine’s proclamations or a link to show that they are genuine.
I and others are interested in Truth and honesty and this article does not meet those standards according to the Word of God.
It makes one wonder if this was posted just to get the same tired old claims published and an excuse for the adherents of Catholicism to throw around their same tired old insults about those that follow the Bible closely and would like answers.
We ran into the same *crickets* in the Mormon threads back a few years ago.
Many claims, but no reasoned debate to back them up.
Unfortunately this thread does not qualify for a caucus designation and no Catholics will politely engage the Christians on the thread.
I guess none of them believe the false claims in this article either.
It is just accepted as the One True Truth because it comes from Marianland.com which is not even accredited as the source.
Maryianland could be Mary-ian land because the two links at the website linked at the top of this article go to a website that sells statues of Mary.
Figures.
That's because there are not any.
All the Protestant and non-denominational churches that I have attended, been a part of, or visited all believed the same thing and preached the same thing.
From the Bible: Christ and Christ crucified showing the simple path to salvation and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
From the only two links at the URL at the top of this thread:
No links to verify anything in the article, but just to the link above which is nothing but solicitation for the sale of Catholic statues and various other money making items.
This thread is a solicitation thread, and solicitation is prohibited on Free Republic.
Are you a shareholder in this business Salvation?
But a POPE does have...
Matthew 8:14
"And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever."
They were ignored and not answered.
The thread deteriorates in the usual way.
Please read and understand John chapter 6. “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him”
Many did not believe Jesus and many today still do not believe. I am sorry that you do not believe, because this was His Great Gift that Jesus gave to all in His sacrifice to save us.
Jesus started a new covenant and gave us Himself in His Body and Blood in the Eucharist.
Jesus first repeated what he said, then summarized: “I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh. The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” (John 6:5152).
His listeners were stupefied because now they understood Jesus literallyand correctly. He again repeated his words, but with even greater emphasis, and introduced the statement about drinking his blood: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him” (John 6:5356).
boatbums:
How do you explain your non acceptance of the above teachings of Jesus? (Your comment; “I reject nothing of what Jesus said and taught.”)
Thanks for your comments and discussion, and I hope that you understand my comments on this topic. Does it make logical sense to claim that Jesus sinned by giving us His Body and Blood and telling us that we needed to eat His Body and Blood for our salvation?
I accept the words of our Lord
Your comment: No you dont, you accept the catechism. The Holy Bible and the catechism disagree and as a RC you always side with the catechism.
Your comments are insulting and showing your anti-Catholic bias.
Perhaps if your comments contained logic and reason, then you would gain some respect.
As a recent convert
I just came home from Mass. In his homily today, the priest spoke of a woman who asked him to be her spiritual confessor. With her prior permission, he spoke about why she converted to the Catholic Church. She told him it was because of the love for Jesus that she saw in Catholics.
That’s why I remain a Catholic, because of my love for Jesus, especially in the Eucharist. May His peace be with you.
Rich
The Catholic Church recognizes all Christians validly baptized as members of the Body of Christ - the Church.
However, they also consider anyone who does not follow the true teachings of Jesus and the Church as heretics.
Benedict began his pontificate with a strong existing foundation for pursuing ecumenism. The Second Vatican Council, a three-year assembly convened in the early 1960s, fundamentally changed how the church did business and made broad Christian unity possible. One of the councils key documents, Unitatis Redintegratio (Restoration of Unity), issued in 1964, identified restoration of unity among all Christians as a key long-term goal.
The document described baptized Christians who profess faith in another church as separated brethren, not as
heretics, the term commonly used for centuries prior. And in 1964, the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church canceled their mutual excommunications of one
another (dating back to 1054), thereby allowing interchurch dialogue to begin.

790 Believers who respond to Gods word and become members of Christs Body, become intimately united with him: In that body the life of Christ is communicated to those who believe, and who, through the sacraments, are united in a hidden and real way to Christ in his Passion and glorification.220 This is especially true of Baptism, which unites us to Christs death and Resurrection, and the Eucharist, by which really sharing in the body of the Lord,... we are taken up into communion with him and with one another.221 (947, 1227, 1329)
805 The Church is the Body of Christ. Through the Spirit and his action in the sacraments, above all the Eucharist, Christ, who once was dead and is now risen, establishes the community of believers as his own Body.
806 In the unity of this Body, there is a diversity of members and functions. All members are linked to one another, especially to those who are suffering, to the poor and persecuted.
Our homily in keeping with waiting another year for fig tree to produce fruit. Our pastor stating that God keeps nurturing us, he related the story of a marriage in his early priesthood.
A young woman age 17 who was pregnant asked to be married to the son of regular member of the parish. She was in high school, pregnant living at home and he was high school graduate and unemployed. The priest advised them to finish high school, get a job, live apart and in a year come back and ask again about marriage. So they endured and got married the following year. 25 years later, our pastor was asked to perform a renewal of the wedding ceremonies with their children and grand children.
It is amazing how the Lord helps us.
You could try to revive it.
Please read and understand ALL of John chapter 6. ..
Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
Ain’t it amazing how the above is continually IGNORED!
HMMMmmm...
